Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

Dont't be fooled by Sylvia M. Scott or her firm, Freeman, Freeman & Smiley.  Yes, on the surface, Sylvia Scott's bio looks credible.  This is where her credibility ends.  She has spoken at a few seminars, and has worked for FINRA.  Our experience has been horrible.  Judging from some other posts, we may not be alone. She may be ok on simple matters, compliance check lists, basic negotiations... However, if you have a real fight on your hands or want to avoid a real fight, run - don't walk - away from Ms Scott.  She is not capable of true analysis or strategy.  she dwells on escalating conflicts or copitulation, if it does not appear that you can huge bills for at least 6 months.

As far as work product is concerned, it is below average, in our experience.  Pleadings according to our in house counsel, are below average.  Written discovery is prepared by first year associates and is sloppy and lacking any reasoning.  At depositions, she is utterly out of it - ineffective.  She will also engage in pointless letter and email writing wars that you will pay for dearly.  This is an easy way for a weak and lazy lawyer to bill.  This is exactly what you will get.  We have done a search on Sylvia online.  Apparently, she has hired a reputation management firm to push down complaints from real clients that speak out.  Amusing and sad at the same time.  Hopefully, you will not fall victim to shallow and expensive lawyering from Sylvia Scott.  Check references carefully, and for a serious matter, think hard before you sign on with Ms Scott.  We did not, and it cost us a fortune with zero results.

Court records reflect the absence of any litigation or court proceeding in which this attorney represented the individual author of the complaint or any associated company.  State bar records similarly reflect the absence of any client complaints or litigation.  The more likely scenario would suggest that the author happens to be a disgruntled adverse party displeased with the effectiveness of this attorney’s representation.  Nearly all of the comments likely originate from the same source as evidenced by certain similarities in use of language and other relevant factors.  For example, the authors clearly attempt to influence search engine algorithms by using SEO techniques such as unnecessarily repeating proper names.
