I initially e-mailed the company (owner Tim Dulany) about the price of a hard drive and was quoted $185 for the one I wanted. I sent in a personal check, waited, and never received it. I e-mailed them, was told they sent e-mails asking for an address (which I gave, but never received any e-mail from them regarding the issue).

I waited, and still never received it. This time, was told it was sent to Hyde Park (town where my studio is at) instead of Wappingers Falls (home address). Never got it, left voice mail, I sent e-mails, which were never returned.

This went on until I finally reached him, was told it was sent to Hyde Park again, and again, never got it. Still haven't been able to reach Tim Dulany after numerous attempts. I'm out $185 which I needed for my recording studio, and can't operate without the money or the hard drive.

I received my hard drive last week after much waiting. Not quite sure what happened, but I'm just glad to get it.

The reasons for buying online, in this case, are very simple

The first being that this hard drive contained a very specific chip for recording music on, so it could not easily be found in a local store. The price was also reasonable for the size. Lastly, the business came recommended from a friend, and would have been supporting a small, personally owned business. Had I been able to go to a local store I would have.

Why not support your local supplier(s)

Hi from Australia John. I read most of the reports on this site and am amazed at the number of people that send their hard earned money to a business or person they don't know to buy 'on line'. I cannot comprehend why you wouldn't support your local trader where you can walk in and view, touch and feel the item before you part with your cash and if it is faulty you can walk back in to the store and have the problem fixed. If you spend your money locally it stays in your town/city and makes the whole community more prosperous. Of course there is always the argument that it is cheaper elsewhere but if it turns out to be faulty or they don't send it at all and you can't contact the person who has your money how much cheaper is it really? Don't deny your local businesses the right to make a profit - they have overheads and aren't sitting behind a keyboard scheming ways to ripoff their next victim (customer). They are there to talk to you and advise you and that is worth paying a small premium for. Think about it next time - if it sounds too good (or cheap) to be true then it probably is. Kind regards to all
