Recently T-Mobile inserted a software interface between the customer and the voice prompts when dialing 611 in an attempt to reach a service representative.  This intrusion is named Call Assist by T-Mobile however it is anything but that.

Call Assist is a hazard to every driver using their cell phone in a lawful manner.

It requires a subscriber, who calls 611 with the intention of speaking to a representative, to pick up their phone to select from 4 choices which (after a lengthy software loading period) show up on their cell phone screen.
This New Call Assist automated system is a requirement that interferes with the bluetooth function and prevents the safe use of the cell phone previously available to the user.
Prior to the Call Assist software intrusion a customer could call T-Mobile Customer Service by simply pressing a designated single selection on his navigation screen, or bluetooth unit, or a single number on their handset.  This feature has been usurped by the Call Assist automated system.
75% of the time Call Assist does not load to the cell phone and instead a message shows up on screen, Not Available which also requires the customer pick up their handset to see what has happened to their call.

In short T-Mobile has place increased profit above customer safety not to mention creating a frustrating experience added to the customer complaint for which the c customer originally placed a 611 call.
