Thanks to Target/RNB I have lost the relationship with my best friend, my sister.

Three years ago I filled out a Target Guest Card application. I had about 10 credit cards at the time that I was barely paying the minium balance on. But hey 10% off your purchase sounded great. I gave them all my info (Major credit card number & D.L. WITH SSN on it) and I was approved to my surprise.

In February my sister applied for refinancing of her mortgage only to find out MY (deliquent)target account was on her credit report. Now our SSN'S are off by 1 digit (EXACTLY the same except for the last digit) but we have different names (first and last) and different addresses etc.

We - I should mention seperately (she refuses to talk to me, My son is not allowed to see his cousins and my mother has to go to her house if she wants to see her grandkids.) are trying to give this resolved. SOMEONE from Target has told her I intentionally did this to her - stating that her husbands business line was put on the orginal application (when there was not ONE thing regarding my sister on that application)

Hopefully we can find the original application somewhere. My sister HAD TO pay off the debt so she could get refinanced but my brother in law is now talking about filing criminal charges against me because of the fact that this has ruined their credit score.

I am not sure exactly yet who was at fault whether it was the cashiers fault or RNB but someone will be held 100% LIABLE for ruining my family!!!

I am an employee of Target Corporation at a Super Target here in Utah. I can understand your frustrations and pain that your situation has caused you. I hope that I can help you with some suggestions: 1- Getting a free credit report either online or through a credit bureau would help you in understanding which SSN# they put in the applicaton. A credit report will list all of your current accounts (credit cards, loans, mortgages, and so on.) I know one of the major credit bureau's that Target goes through is Equifax Financial Services (equifax.com). 2- By calling the Target Guest Credit services and asking a live representative if you have/had and account from Target opened they should be able to tell you by your SSN# and some other info given to them. (1-800-659-2396) 3- This is just a general suggestion for all people applying for ANY credit card. When there is someone other than you entering in the application ask them to read you off the information that they have typed in to make sure that the name, SSN#, Address, and other info has been typed in correctly. I read off the information I have typed in every time I type in a Target Credit Application to ensure that the right info is being sent. We have to make sure human mistakes are at the minimum.
