I have this problem with Target, I have been to several of there stores, and some that are not Target. I wonder if this Target is the only store in this state to act this way, yet I see it in several other Target stores too, it can not happen in all the stores, I believe.

The good part is that they label the shelves, therefore every place has its own space, every row is numbered, or could be, to supply the things to be put on the shelves, therefore could be found by the person putting it there, or the person to buy it find it, maybe. To place it on the shelf, the label or a scan tool, or the shelf label, can make it easier, yet because they weave in and out, rather than start from one side that can make it easy to find, yet sometimes it can be difficult, or easy if its known where it is on the shelf.

The problem is, the way some people that work there, have strange ideas about where things should be put on the shelf. They made it as easy as logic could think of, yet some people that work there think they should place things in the wrong place, remember I wrote everything has its place, they see an empty place and do not have that item that belongs there, therefore think it should be filled with anything they choose to put there and still labeled as something else for a price.

The strange ideas from these people to force others to accept there reason for putting it in the wrong space, remember every thing has its place, they do not like people correcting them when others see its in the wrong place.

The people that do a good job or intent upon doing a good job get blamed for the problem, these other people do.

At night, before closing, they pull things forward to look full or make it easy to grab and buy, problem is they move it several spaces beyond its place where a different price is or different subject is, just to fill an empty place to look like its full.

They fight, or differ, with people that know it belong only in its place.

Would you like to work for a store, that make you shift from reality, one day; yet another day, blame you for doing what you tried to do to start with.

People come and go that work there, they leave for a reason.

Another problem, that happens at Target, can happen anywhere, the team lead can complain or treat fairly or unfairly about how people work, that people need a drink of water, or need to use the restroom, or complain about finishing work, workers are human being not machines, to be overworked or made to do too much, all by thereself, yet others have team spirit to help, remember some people can do some thing by thereself, yet some are expected to do too much.

(Target sure sounds like a great place to work, doesn't it? All this weaving in and out...not to mention finally realizing a purpose in life- to supply the things to be put on the shelf. Ah, to be the supplier of the things to be put on the shelf. If I could only achieve that, I could die happy.) "They made it as easy as logic could think of, yet some people that work there think they should place things in the wrong place, remember I wrote everything has its place, they see an empty place and do not have that item that belongs there, therefore think it should be filled with anything they choose to put there and still labeled as something else for a price." (Everything in it's place, that's the key to universal harmony. Remember, even Spontanaeity has it's time and place.) "The strange ideas from these people to force others to accept there reason for putting it in the wrong space, remember every thing has its place, they do not like people correcting them when others see its in the wrong place." (This is just too deep for me. Is there a Nepalese monk in the house?) "The people that do a good job or intent upon doing a good job get blamed for the problem, these other people do." "They fight, or differ, with people that know it belong only in its place." (Where do it belong? Only people that know know for sure.) "Would you like to work for a store, that make you shift from reality, one day; yet another day, blame you for doing what you tried to do to start with." (I think you'd fit right in at such a store, my friend!) "People come and go that work there, they leave for a reason." (Truer words were never spoken!) "Another problem, that happens at Target, can happen anywhere, the team lead can complain or treat fairly or unfairly about how people work, that people need a drink of water, or need to use the restroom, or complain about finishing work, workers are human being not machines, to be overworked or made to do too much, all by thereself, yet others have team spirit to help, remember some people can do some thing by thereself, yet some are expected to do too much." (Somewhere, buried beneath all that verbiage, is an idea in desperate search of a voice.)

You know, maybe the problem is that the poster insists on writing in Haikus. "The product was on the shelf, the employee listened and understood the tags were turned backwards the shelves were fully stocked, the products were not priced We all understood A tear fell from the teddy bears eye price check in aisle one" I'm sure Steven will understand.

I don't quite understand your post because it makes no sense, but this is my rebuttal from what I could get out of it: When the team members flip over the bar code, it is not to hide that there is something else thats supposed to be there. They ONLY flip over the bar code when that particular item is discontinued and no longer being restocked. If you look next time, find an empty spot that has a bar code, and there willl probably be a gray dot about the size of a dime on it. This dot means it is currently out of stock, but still an active bar code. (This is what you will see if their team is working correctly, at least). And for the ones that are on a long sheet, they will take a blank one and cover it if the item is discontinued. Yes, we do zone and try to make things look fuller, but I've worked for several retailers and EVERY SINGLE ONE does this. They all call it something different, but it is the exact same thing. And we never will put an item in the spot of another item that is currently waiting to be restocked--this just creates more work later. Sometimes, they will do what is called flexing, which basically is this: If there is a DVD that we have 20 on hands, and it is next to a DVD that has 0 on hands, and is discontinued, they will cover up the barcode (because it is discontinued) and "flex" 10 of the first DVD into that spot. Again, this only happens with the item that is out is discontinued and no longer being restocked. If they do this in a spot where the item is sitting on a truck on the way from the DC, then they will just have to move them all again when the item comes in, and it is a waste of time. I should note that this is how a store is supposed to work, and this is exactly how mine works. Some of it does boil down to the team leads and managers and how well they train their team.

Customer's prefer Wally World?

#7Consumer Suggestion

Sun, March 15, 2009

Meh, I don't think customers prefer Wally World over Target. Walmart is obviously a bigger company, so I think that skews the numbers a bit. Whenever I go into Walmart, it's full of low-class gang-bangers, welfare cases, rednecks and their out-of-control children. Target seems to have a higher class of customer, a better class of product, and their stores look WAY nicer.

"It's really a simple concept that they have and it makes their stores look nicer and gives the appearance that the store is 'fully stocked."' Yes you explained how the game works, its put somethings where it does not belong, and with this fake full look. They did not understand that in Romania, they complained about the leader of Romania with that same logic, "We have so much we are so prosperous" Once they get to the check stand, to pay for it, they just realized, why, they should never buy there again, or make sure to find how much it really costs if you think its cheaper there. Just make sure every time you buy something there, its what it is, or you may find you have just been betrayed.

I told this to a Walmart employee, it was understood. They explained that Truth and Honesty will gain a customer, not deception about false prices, or false listings. They said that anyone too lazy to places things where they belong will find too many unhappy customers. At Target, you can not always turn over the price, they can be on a ribbon, yes they can be are all one piece, if it was that small bit of paper, it would take too long to remove, and too lazy to do. because that is how they think. Take a look at the shelves the facts speak for themselves. Watch the games they play, at Target, "everything must be in its places, and please do not overstock" then comes someone to bully you, to do different, who gets blamed for doing it, not the person doing the bullying, "remember everything must be in its places" "remember to tell them we do not do those things here." That facts speak for themselves. A person at Walmart said we do not play games here, we make every effort to insure everything is in its place, if not, we are intent on doing something about it, those games you spoke of at Target do not exist here, customers come first.

It's called "zoning" the store

#10UPDATE EX-employee responds

Tue, March 10, 2009

Target has a policy that basically says that the shelves have to look full. Throughout the employee's shift they must go through their department and zone the aisle. Basically zoning is bringing everything to the front of the shelves. But lets say you have some Crest toothpaste next to some Colgate toothpaste. If the Colgate toothpaste is currently sold out, that leaves a huge hole in their zone. What the employees are instructed to do is turn the price label around for the Colgate and slide over to Crest toothpaste to make the aisle appear to be full and properly zoned. Later on when the Colgate comes in the Crest will be slid back into its proper place and the Colgate's price tag will be turned around and will be stocked. It's really a simple concept that they have and it makes their stores look nicer and gives the appearance that the store is "fully stocked."

First Amendment.

Yes, Bill, we all know the Amendments, thank you for that. We do live in a country that allows us to voice our opinions, no matter how dumb they are. (Case in point with Shelf Boy here.) So, when you were in school, you obviously paid attention in American History, but apparently you fell asleep in English class. Look at that grammar and punctuation; it's like you should've gone the extra mile and just written it in crayon.

You're seriously filing a ROR because you don't like where things are on the shelf at Target? Are you that bored? Is this your biggest problem?

I have been to several stores, some that are not Target. I wonder if this Target store is the only store in the state to be this way, yet I see it in some other Target stores too. Walmart and several other stores, make sure the products are where there labeled to be, I rarely see any thing out of place at a Walmart. The good part is, Target created a store where everything is labeled, yet not always that way. The store has A1, A2... and B1, B2,... and so forth, each row you enter is labeled. I can not find that at any other store, Walmart does not number there rows or any other place I recall. Each shelf has labels for each item on the shelf, that explains price and what it is, just like other stores, yet not every item may have a label that lists information about its price and what it is. You may find it too technical for how they put it on the shelf, yet its simple, its unloaded from a truck just like other stores are, the box it came in has a label or scan tool explains where it is. The place where it explains where it will be. is silly, it winds around the rows, not one side to the other side of the shelf, not starting at the same aisle. The problem is, the way some people that work there, have strange ideas about where things should be put on the shelf. Target made it as easy as logic could think of, yet some people that work there think they should place things in the wrong place, remember I wrote everything has its place, some worker will see an empty place, check the scan tool to see if that place is in supply, yet do not have that item that belongs there, therefore think it should be filled with anything they choose to put there and still be labeled as something else for a price. Or place things on the shelf in the wrong place. Its Target policy written on paper, posted on the door, where people go in and out of, for people to see, yet people overlook what is written there, about doing the right things. The strange ideas from these people, to force others to accept there reason for putting it in the wrong space, remember every thing has its place, they do not like people correcting them when others see its in the wrong place. The people that do a good job, or intent upon doing a good job, get blamed for the problem these other people do.
