Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
To this date my wife and I feel our bodies and minds had been violated by the Taylor Building Corporation of America aka Taylor Homes. We did not willingly or knowingly bend over for this company but once we signed that builders contract this company had us bent over for the duration of the construction of this house.

The happiest day in our lives was when we where able to sign off on the Taylors and rid ourself of this misfortune. We accepted redoing the basement floor so the water would drain, we accepted redoing the entire master bathroom, we accepted repainting 80% of this house, we accepted finishing the basement windows, we accepted redoing and finishing what the furance contractors screwed up and we accepted the drainage problem from the roof.

We where so glad we where able once again to stand and walk upright. As misfortune would have it we received a mailing from Taylor Homes stating, Taylor Homes would love to build another home for you and see the smile on your face. This we can not accept, the Taylors had us bent over for so long they don't have a clue what our faces look like.

If I had not been there to witness the mismanagement, the bad management, hell there wasn't any management in the construction of this house, I would not have believed that this possibly had happened.

I sit here with eight type written pages and growing of nothing but moaning and groaning comments about this builder and the nasty things they did to my wife and me. Instead of this eight page complaint here is a wish list. If we had had this information available we would never had done business with Taylor Homes or any other bottom feeding builder.

A Wish List of Questions We Never Asked.

1. Call your local Home Builders Association; ask if this builder is a member. Call the Home Builders Association where the builder has its business address such as Louisville Kentucky, if they are not a member ask them why not, call the National Home Builders Association it's an 800 #, ask them why this builder is index under the Franklin name and not Taylor.

2. Call the Better Business Bureau where the builder has their business address such as Louisville Kentucky. Ask this association why the Taylor Building Corporation of America was dropped from their roster in January of 2004 and still flew their logo on the internet until March of 2005. Keep in mind the BBB is a private company and is part of the Good Old Boys Country Club.

3. Kentucky Secretary of State; go to the internet, link onto Taylor Homes, there is a world of information available to you, remember Kentucky has an open records law. As an example Southern States, what ever happened to these people. Call the local newspaper in Louisville they can tell you how to archive their records.

4. If the property is in your name and all the permits are in your name, if the liability insurance is all yours and in your name ask the sales person; what is the responsibilty of the builder. Keep in mind the opinion of the sales person is his not the builders. Then go to the county building department and ask them who is responsible.

5. Ask for the names of at least five current and past customers of the Taylors. The sales person may give you the name of a person in authority such as a police officer or others like him, whom better to trust. No way! Your best bet is to go to the county building department in your county or any of the counties in that market area. Remember Kentucky has an open records law.

6. Ask for a sit down interview with the site supervisor. Keep in mind this is the person who will build your house and spend thousands of your hard earned money. Ask for his qualifications and check him out.

7. Get a written completion date signed by the owner of the company. If this request is refused for any reason, ask other builders in your area what is their build out time and what is reasonable expectation. You will be amazed.

8. Do not sign the contract until you have taken it to an attorney. Any contract and especially this builder's contract with a mediation and arbitration clause can cost you your right to a jury trail and thousands of your hard earned money. Everything about it favors the builder.

Its your money! Tens of thousands of dollars spend it wisely.

Dear Consumer; Thanks to Ripoff Report for allowing this opportunity to respond to the comments of Albert. There are ALWAYS two sides to every story. We understand that it is impossible to satisfy everyone 100%. Over the years the Taylor Family has built thousands and thousands of homes for satisfied customers, a VERY high percentage have taken the time to express their satisfaction to us verbally, in writing and as repeat customers...some have built with Taylor Homes on numerous occasions. Although we're not perfect---NO ONE is. We honestly strive to achieve customer satisfaction through communication (both written and verbal) and building quality homes at affordable prices. This helps our customer obtain good equity in their lifetime investment. Our homes typically appraise for several thousands more that our custoemrs overall investment. Although I can't be certain of the identity of this consumer, I have reviewed our records, and we were unaware of any outstanding issue with this home. I personally invite Albert or any other reader to contact me at 502-582-1800 to discuss this matter further. Taylor Homes stands ready, willing and able to address any legitimate claim that Albert may have. We take customer satisfaction very seriously, perhaps that's why over 50% of our business comes from referrals . Our family has built homes for THOUSANDS of satisfied customers for over 50-Years. Taylor Homes works diligently to satisfy each of our valued customers! We carefully outline what our customers should expect and what their responsibilities are. Taylor Homes, however is not a Turnkey builder. Because Taylor builds homes on land owned by our customers, it is necessary that our customers take on various responsibilities in the home building process. In many cases, our customers build sweat equity and perform a large amount of responsibilities before, during and after the construction process. We understand the value of our customers' hard working dollar, and our business model allows us to offer the most affordable, quality brick homes available. This is demonstrated by our competitively low prices per square feet and consistently high resale values. We maintain all the required licenses in every state and location where we do business. We are fully insured and bonded where required. We are one of the most respected scatter-built homebuilders in the region, and recognitions of our success, workmanship and quality include Professional Builder Magazine, GIANT 400 and other national magazines. Please check with local offices of the Better Business Bureau, including Louisville and several other places where we do business, to see that we are a member in good standing. We are also a member of the National Homebuilders Association and various Chambers of Commerce. Taylor Homes is also an active participant in the communities we build - helping support local events and regional charities. We understand the importance of a respectful partnership between client and builder. Building a home can be a difficult and often stressful experience, and we set out to make it as comfortable and satisfying as possible. We insist that our customers take the time they need to review our contracts and construction information with whomever they choose. We understand this will be a huge investment. For everyone's benefit, theirs and ours, we WANT our customers to have all their questions and concerns addressed. I hope to hear from Albert and any other consumers who have any questions as a result of this report. Chris Taylor President/Chief Operating Officer Taylor Homes (502) 582-1800

Kentucky does not require a builder to be licensed or qualified to build a house

ps: Kentucky does not require a builder to be licensed or qualified to build a house. A person can show up at your door step and declare themselves a builder. They only need a 12 foot tape measure, a 4 foot level and a sales person that is slicker than snot on a door knob. Thank you Mr. Kentucky Politican and the Lobbiest that support you. Ha! Ha! Ha!
