TCF BANK many incompetent employees ripoff Willowbrook Illinois
My problem with TCF has never been their normal banking practices. I had some credit problems which led to a creditor freezing and putting a 15000.00 lien on my account with TCF. I had about 800.00 in the account. Due to some automatic withdrawals (which I do not recommend) that could not be stopped in time there were some overdraft fees charged to the account. I immediately received a letter from TCF stating that I had to pay the overdrafts or I would be reported to ChexSystems.
Not having any experience I went into a local branch to find out if I paid the overdrafts if they would be applied to the lien or the overdrafts. Neither the teller or the branch manager new the answer. Then I called customer service they could not give me an answer either they told me to call collections.
Well once I was finally able to get through I got the same I don't know. Shortly after these initial attempts I had to file for bankruptcy. Once filed the automatic stay forced the creditor to drop the law suit against me . This was back in November.
I have been trying to get my money back from TCF ever since. No turn over order was ever signed and out of the 8 or 9 times I have tried to get phone numbers or information from the bank I have been either indefinitely put on hold then disconnected, gotten the I don't know or they will have a supervisor call me. I had a really hard time even getting their fax # for my lawyer to send over some info.
By this time I had found out from an Attorney acquaintence of mine that they could indeed get their money first, but at this point their was no way I could give them any money while they were legally obligated to return mine. I did also verify with the creditors attorney that they notified the bank of the dismissal of the lawsuit.
Now I'm in Chex and can't even open a savings account. I banked there for 15 years and can't belive my situation is so uncommon that I could not get any answers.
