Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
My husband and I were TOD heart and soul for 2 years. We attended every Tuesday meeting, monthly seminar, leadership conference and bought every tool we were told to buy. We were introduced to the business from a business associate who had just gotten in the business. He had the "emerald" come talk to us and it sounded great. This business associate was smart enough to get out when they started pushing "tools". We were not.

This emerald would be with us every step of the way we were told. Since we did not live very close to the emerald we were told we had to have a top 50 tape set right away $300.00 and we would have to be on tapes and books if we hoped to succeed. The emerald did not come help us, he passed us on to a platinum who visited us 2 times in 2 years to help.

As we started to build we were told to get everyone on system and to get "butts in the seats at seminars." There was always a push to increase your tape count and ticket count. So we did. What happened was people didn't go to the seminars or quit the busines and didn't take their tapes etc and we ended up eating this. Once you buy the tapes, tickets, etc they are yours! After thousands of lost dollars we could not do it anymore.

We lost our home, cars were repossessed etc. but we still had hope that it could work. The final straw was that when we got in financial trouble due to the tool business all the uplines (platinum, emerald etc) wanted nothing to do with us. Instead the platinum contacted our downline telling lies about us and convincing the team that if they pushed us out they would move on and get their dreams. Well the loyal "team" bought it hook, line, and sinker. The truth is once we were no longer their tape and ticket "cash cow" we were pushed out so that the platinum could get another.

This business cost us our friends, strained realtionships with family and financially put us in great hardship. Our whole time in the business I asked to see checks from the people who were making all this money and was told "It wouldn't mean anything it has my name on it, you need to get one with your name on it."

Maybe this was just one bad team with TOD but it sure doesn't stand up to their Christian preaching.

I got involved with the TOD in February of this year and I'm sitting here wondering what I've gotten myself into. I am a pretty bright individual and am not easily taken by "get rich quick" schemes. I have always enjoyed traditional jobs where you are paid according to your contribution to the company, so that is what attracted me to the TOD. Plus, the personal growth that was preached by my friend and his upline. Then I started researching the net for stuff on this business. Mostly negative, but then I put it down to the people who were either afraid of doing it, did it and failed, or just the people who didn't know enough to talk about it. I tried everything that the mentors and my "coach" told me to do, nothing was working. The standard line I heard from my upline was, produce PV, read and listen to tapes...keep doing what I was doing. Personal growth wise, I've done real well. The books are a god-send...but then they are out there on the open market for anyone to obtain. The tapes, the same information over and over and over. The seminairs, the same. They told me that I would "have a moment" where the business would suddenly take off after a major seminar, but I didn't go the second day because I wasn't feeling anything. The people in my upline and my downline are awesome people that I'd probably not meet anywhere else. Most of the people in this business are there to be part of a group that is affecting massive change in personal and business life. Unfortunately, I don't think this business is going to work for me. I have experienced a nagging doubt in the past months, that all of the things they tell me to do to make my business succeed isn't moral. I was taken in by the "Make Friends, Have fun, Make money and Make a difference". But, if you have to "limit" what you tell someone, where's the morals in making friends? I am still involved, I guess, in this business. I've called my upline and told them that my family was backing off for now, that our other priorities were overwhelming us. I recieved the standard line of "It's your business. The team is here to help you." After two weeks of calling me with no response, the team is silent. I wonder what I'll be told when I get "off system"? My coach told me that he would spend his time helping the "ones who get it" ie, the ones having results and the "ones who didn't" would justifiably be left behind. Yet, on one of the Leadership tapes, the "leaders" said you are supposed to work with the ones who aren't getting results, because they are the ones who need it the most. Who's right? I see the divisions it causes in my friends home, his wife is dead set against it and wonders why he can see it. He just wants to make the life they have better, but how better is it when you're at the brink of divorce after being high school sweethearts and going through alot worse things? If you are in the business and doing well, tell me your secret. If you aren't in the business and don't want to be, well....they say it's not for everyone. I think I'm in the last category.
