This is in reference to a used 2001 Ford Ranger XLT/Edge Vin Number 1FTYR14E71PA37849, CA License Plate 6M83725.  Temecula Nissan and/or the Pedder Automotive group is attempting to sell this vehicle for $5995 and it is not worth anything.

It needs a new transmission, it has low compression in cylinders 1 and 3, needs a new engine, has a ripped ball joint, a crease in the passenger door, a new timing chain/jackshaft, the lights on the dash are out, and so on.

The coolant, transmission fluid, and oil are all intermixed together.  Transmission fluid is pink, coolant is brown, oil is milky.  They probably just replaced the valve body gasket to cover up a P0733 third gear error code.  If you google the vin number this truck will appear.

If you see this truck offered for sale here or anywhere else, run!!  This truck is worth at most two hundred dollars.  TEMECULA NISSAN IS A SCAM!!! PEDDER AUTO GROUP IS A SCAM!!

$6,000 used vehicle vs a 60G Six Sixer? - You be the judge

With new vehicle prices exceeding $50,000 it is clear why a buying used all cash is becoming more popular. In other words, with finance contracts going 5, 6, 6.5 years, 7 years, that is a long, long time to pay on something that the shine wears off in a few months. Also, that is a long time to have force insurance for.

The company I work for has not even existed for 6 years, I hope it does. Car dealerships often talk about a sale where the customer is ripped off as being a "home run" for the dealer for the whole month. So would be getting rear ended by someone driving a six sixer.

You know that they are forced to have insurance because where there are loans there is forced insurance. That would be your home run for the rest of your life. Ask yourself, do you want to drive something paid off or be the next six sixer that rear ends someone - who knows it might be me?

Transmission fluid contaminated for at least 4000 miles and no records of later repair

Based upon a review of available service records and search of autocheck, car fax reports, the transmission in this 2001 Ford Ranger must have had intermixed transmission fluid, oil and coolant for at least 4000 miles if not more. During that time, the corrosive aspect of the coolant and/or water in the transmission would cause the water soluable glue to separate from the friction material and cause the clutches to fall apart.

Simply replacing the valve body gasket and/or cleaning the valve body itself will not reverse the effects of this. There is no record of the transmission being serviced on any auto check or car fax reports; only a vehicle inspection, detailing, cleaning, and I might ad cover-up. This transmission probably has a rough 2-3 shift, and/or shift flare. There is no question that the transmission in this truck is shot and has been covered up. This 2001 Ford Ranger is clearly no gold standard.

Thank you Mr. Mir a Mar for posting this. I went to view this truck and I did notice that the coolant in the reservoir appeared green as it supposed to be. Of course, having read your report I was skeptical. After all, we all know that any time their lips are moving, car salespeople are lying!

They were counting on the fact that you generally can't open the radiator when the engine is warm, but I did it anyway. Sure enough the coolant was discolored just like you reported! Evidently, they blocked the line to the reservoir and placed clean coolant in there to disguise the problem. Of course, the salesman's face turned red and then dead white.

A cover up indeed had occurred. More importantly, who would want to pay $5995 for an 18 year old truck only to have to spend at least another $5000 on a new transmission which this one desperately needs?
