Texas Big German Shepherd: Owner: Sonia Griffths DO NOT BUY FROM THIS BREEDER ---- PARVO AT FACILITY!!! Sandia Texas
After our protection dog died we decided to purchase two German Shepherds, one adult and one puppy. We bought the dogs on August 30 (Labod Day weekend). Two days later the breeder, Sonia, called to inform us that the puppy's kennelmate had PARVO and to have our puppy checked out. We did and he was admitted to the hospital ($800 deposit just to admit). He was in ICU and isolation for 9 days and nearly died twice. During that week, Sonia called no less than four times to check on the puppy and to offer to pay for the PARVO treatment. After we got the puppy out of the hospital, she called again to say "once things settle down, send me the vet bill and we will take care of the PARVO charges." A week later after the puppy finally regained strength and we were sure he was going to make it, I emailed the vet charges (over $2000) to Sonia. One week later her husband called, not Sonia, and said the charges were riculous and offered $200 for the bill. After further discussion and reminding him it was his wife, the owner, who had offered to pay for the charges he finally became very angry/irrate and hung up. Guess what? No charges were reimbursed.
They are still in business after losing at least two puppies (Sonia told this to me over the phone and said, and I quote, "It's like a holocaust here.").
PARVO is a terrible, awful disease and horrible to watch a sweet puppy go through. DO NOT BUY a puppy from this breeder - the puppy may be infected (PARVO is known to live in soil for years!!!) and they will do NOTHING if the puppy does contract the illness. Even having a puppy tested before leaving the breeder is not sufficient (which she says she does but our puppy had not been tested!) as the disease may take several days to manifest itself.
YOU WILL BE HEARTBROKEN and POORER!
