My son was referred to The Continuum on an initial evaluation for speech therapy. I contacted them a month prior to his appointment & provided my insurance information in an effort to ensure that my insurance company covered his expenses. When I took my son a month later for his initial evaluation, the receptionist asked for the $35 copay. I was under the impression that my insurance would cover the service. My son saw a SLP for 20 minutes of an initial evaluation. During that time, she asked a series of questions.

He did not receive any additional services to assist with his speech. A month later, a $215 bill appeared on my account stating that my insurance company would not cover this service. Chris, the person in charge of billing say due to the lack of coverage, she would provide the discounted rate of $100. She never corrected this in her system and I received another bill from the collection agency for the full amount of $215. I attempted calling her back on numerous occasions & left several messages on her voice mail & with the secretary demanding her to return my class.

Once I got a hold of her after three weeks, she went back on her words & refused to honor her original statement. When requested to speak to another person in charge, she said "there is no one you can speak to." I found that difficult to believe & conducted my own research on their website. I emailed the CEO & financial officer, in addition to their board member in regards to this issue.

I left numerous messages to JoAnn Ross-Blake (CFO/Secretary Treasurer) of which went unanswered. I also attempted to contact Diane Ross (CEO/President), & after a week, she finally returned my phone call. She was “sorry” for the situation, but made no attempt to assist me in resolving this issue. Her demeanor and the actions of her administrative staff is less to be desired.

I find this business to be dishonest in their practice to the community and other consumers need to be forewarned prior to associating with them. I do not accept their response and is determined to move forward with my complaint. Thank you.
