The Laminate Store

1640 Satellite Blvd NW

Duluth, GA 30097

We've been working with a salesman with this store for several months and finally made a selection, the "Sangria", a high-gloss mahogany pattern. Let me say that we have always found our salesman, Wally, to be courteous, patient, and never tried to high pressure us into a purchase. After installation last week by the in-house installation company, when all the dust was swept up, and viewing the floor in the clear light of day, I was dismayed to see that while some of the boards were clear and shiny, half or more of the boards had what looked like a milky film. These are intermingled throughout the whole job which included the family room, dining room, foyer, closet, and living room.

I immediately e-mailed the manager and attached photos. No response. I made a trip to the Laminate Store yesterday to see what the resolution might be. While waiting for the manager, Chad Shook, I spoke to two salesmen. One informed me that they were having problems with the "Sangria" and that they had a whole truck load of the mess out back. When I had a chance to speak with Chad, he claimed there was nothing he could do. He had checked with the manufacturer and that's the way it's supposed to look. Oh surely not. There is nothing aesthetically pleasing with having dull and shiny planks mixed together. I told him, loudly, he was just trying to pass off a manufacturer's defect on unsuspecting customers. Hopefully, the corporate office of The Laminate Store will not have the same attitude regarding customer service as does this manager and will make things right.

Beware of any business that does not stand behind its own product.

This matter is not closed. I will update.

How did you get resolution?

This is a letter I wrote to other people that have gone through similar situations as us with this company. I saw that you got resolution and I was curious as to how that happened. You are welcome to read this letter and please give me feedback. Dear "The Laminate Store Victims" I say victims because we all in some way have been screwed over by this company and none of us seemed to manage to get resolution. I have spoken to some of you via email and others I just tried to find whoever I could on the complaint websites to ask for your help. I have spent a year fighting with this company to get them to fix or replace my flooring. The green composite board that is just under the laminate surface is showing through my floor all over. I have already had the installer look at my floor and they said of course its not his fault. They wont even tell me who made my floor. I dont have my boxes anymore. Any ways. It would take a six page letter literally to tell you who Ive talked to, what measures I have taken and so forth. All I am going to tell you is how we can possibly see some type of resolution and maybe put this god forsaken company out of business. I alread complained to the Better Business Bureau and spoke with the State Attorneys office of FLorida. (NOTE this will only be for people in FLorida, if you are out of Florida you will have to find out your Deparment of Agriculture or Consumer services for your state) Anyway. I spoke with the State Attorney Steve Mettes and he recommended to write my complaint to THe Deparment of Agriculture or Consumer services on their website 1. www.800helpfla.com or you can call 1-800-help-fla. Their address is: Florida Deparment of Agriculture Division of Consumer Services Rhodes Building 2005 Apalachee Parkway Tallahasee,Florida 32399-6500 Now since most of you have your story already written out on your computer it would not take any time to fill out their short form, copy and paste your complaint and what resolution you seek. Make sure what you say is true especially if you use names because this is a governmental organization not just a complaint website. So since they are responsible for monitoring business, they have the authority to fine or put companies out of business if their is enough complaints or evidence that they have been unfair, unjust or running their business inappropriately. So they are beyound the better business bureau. I will also go next Wednesday to file a complaint with the State attorneys office. When I spoke to Steve Mette on the phone he told me every Wed they are at the Jacksonville Beach city hall from 8:30 to 4:30 to handle issues i guess (not quite sure what they can do but he told me to go there and I will). I also finally spoke with a lawyer here in JAx that deals with consumer law and I noticed a lot of people mentioned that you know how can you afford lawyer fees after you just built a house or you know just paid a couple grand for your floors.. who wants to spend more on a lawyer that what the floor cost. Well I understand all that, but if none of these other alternatives work that he suggested to me, I will sue this company. I am so fed up with them and how so many other people have been screwed over by them, I want them to know they are not untouchable and need to be held accountable in some way. They always seem to put it on someone else dont they??!!! WEll I know you are all probably tired of dealing with them and are over it and have gone on with your lives. But please just take the time if you havent already to send a complaint to the Department of Agricultures Customer Services and Protection because the more they hear about it the more likely they are to do something. MY lawyer told me that he has seen quick resolution when they get involved and you might just see some progress with your floors. I dont think it matters how longs its been. Please shoot me a quick email if you plan on filing a complaint with them just so I can keep track. The reason I would like to know is if I can find grounds to do a class action suit, maybe that is another option. This might seem drastic just over 5,000 that I spent on my floors, but I have been dealing with them since I was 6 months pregnant and now my daughter is 4 months old. I have called every week almost since it started, wrote down all the conversations and saved all the papers that I have. I am having my own inspector come tommorow to give me a certified opinion to be able to use in court if I have to and to keep for my records since they refused to send out an inspector to look at my floors other that the installation. They said the "manufacturer denied to assist them in fixing my floors due to the fact that what is happening is due to my local environment" (An air conditioned house). SO i just can let them get away with my time away from my family, my tears and my hard work. The last question I asked the supervisor Freddie that I have been dealing with at their customer service is.. " Freddie I save lives for a living (Im a registered Nurse), what do you do?" SO thank you for your time. Let me know if you are interested.

This customer was given a complete new floor and it was installed and the customer was happy with the outcome of the situation. I would appreciate it if this was closed and noted at satisfied. Thanks Chad B.Shook
