I was hired by The Wackenhut Corp. In january of 2007. I was promised promotions, raises (quarterly), and lots of other perks. The perks lasted about a month, when they had me patrolling a hotel on Bradenton Beach. After my wonderful month, I was asked if I wanted to reassign to a post in east Bradenton, where most of the orange juice anybody has ever drank is produced. I told them to let me think about it, and i would get back to them in a week.

two days later, I recieved a call from my "Major" (otherwise known as an area supervisor [Garrock Goodwiler]) when he said that I was desperately needed to be reassigned to the new post. I told him I did not want to be removed from my previous post, because of the location. Where I was working on Bradenton Beach was two miles away from my home, and the new post would be 6 miles away, also in a neighberhood where I saw 3 homicides, prostitutes and shoot outs on a daily basis, and more gang activity than most police officers see.

When I told him that I did not want to be relocated, he threatened me with my job, so I agreed. Once reassigned, I was asked to work 12 hr shifts, 7 days a week for "just a couple of weeks". A couple of weeks turned into three months. In that three months, I worked numerous forced 16 hr shifts, and even a 21 hr shift (they even wanted me to go home, get 2 hrs of sleep, and come back in!)

After I made the initial complaint of being too tired to work, I was told that if I called in, I would be fired, no matter what the reason. On a weekly basis, my schedule was changed after I had left work, for me to be back 4 hrs earlier, and 3 times, I was reprimanded. Finally, when I got fed up with the treatment, I put in a couple applications at other companies, including the plant where I was working as a security officer. When my immediate supervisor Garrock Goodwiler) found out about my intent to work for the plant, I was told there was a 2 year waiting period from the time I quit wackenhut, until the time I became employed at the plant, and there was a "No compete" clause in our security contract, that could get employeed fired for "recruiting" wackenhut employees.

I came to terms with the fact, that I wasn't going to be able to be employed with the juice manufacturer, and went on with life. About 3 months later, I was informed by numerous employees of the company, including the Human Resources manager, that there was absolutely no "No Compete" clause in the security contract. I was lied to, and I was even told by Garrock Goodwiler, that he "wouldn't keep me from bettering myself", which, was a total load.

DO NOT WORK FOR WACKENHUT! IT IS JUST ASKING TO BE LIED TO, CHEATED, AND THEN PUSHED OUT OF THE DOOR WHEN YOU GO LOOKING FOR ANOTHER JOB!

When you have the opportunity to get a better job, DO IT! Don't worry about what some broke back losers in a rent a cop outfit tells you. Of course they don't want you to better yourself. Most of them are the bottom of the barrel; loser types who cant make it at anything else. Find another job not in the rent a cop industry. At least in one of those plants you can advance. Stay in security and you'll never advance past minimum wage, stay too long and you wont be able to get a decent job, you may get killed for your minimum wage, you may get sued and get a judgment against you, so you'll never own anything. More than likely become a drunk, and decent people will look you upon as caved in trash.
