Theresa Porter Selling Sick Kittens from Kitty Mill in Rittman, Ohio
So we wanted to add a cute fluffy Ragdoll kitty to our family. We found Theresa on Hoobly.com and went to see her place and the kittens before placing a deposit (1/2 down) to make sure she was legit and not a kitty mill. We paid $350 for our perfect little purebred Ragdoll baby, we didn't want just any cat with our small children at home. These cats are known for there dog-like behavior and going limp when held. She had a well kept home, only a little chihuahua running around with the kittens, and was very helpful and nice until the kitten was paid in full and in our hands!
A day after we had him he started with severe diahrrea that lasted almost 5 days. He had round worms and also an upper respiratory infection...not things you expect from a reputable breeder who cares for her animals. He had to have subcutaneous fluids twice and on 2 different antibiotics to fight his infection and special food...his vet bills are nearing $500 for his first 3 weeks with us for all his medication and tests. Needless to say she put my 2 small daughters at home at health risks sending me home with a severely sick cat, we don't even know yet what the real problem is. She did not provide any health records when we picked him up but said the vet could call her with questions? Well I tried to contact her about the issues he was having and she came back to me acting like a 14 year old (who is about 50) saying if I can't afford the care I should have reconsidered the purchase. Excuse me?!?! I never said I couldn't afford it, but I shouldn't have had to pay all these vet bills and she should have been concerned about the fact that the kitten she sold me may not make it. After this immature email from her I tried emailing back and can not get a response from her. These were purebreds, I paid $350 for him, not free stray kittens. Turns out she has several high-priced breeds she is peddling from God knows where with her cute little house in Rittman as a front. She did say her son own some property on the street. And I thought it odd that she would not bring the mother out for me to see it and when we were looking at the cats, she put the one's we were not interested in in the bathroom tub because they didn't have a "place" in her house. She must keep them somewhere else with the other caged and poorly treated animals.
Say a prayer that our little Marty makes it through his traumatic first weeks and that this woman is shut down for treating animals this way and scamming people for these high-priced animals.
