On or about June 20th of 2008 I called Timeshares By Owner after doing a search for timeshare resales. I listed our property with them at a cost of $699.00 which i was told would get listed on the Internet and also shown at offices located in orlando near themeparks.

I personally checked the website for our listing which is indeedthere and has been since June of 2008. Onseveral occasions I called Timeshares by owner and asked about our listing and was told that it indeed was listed and being marketed.

On several other occasions I was contacted by Timeshares by owner to put it up on a auction with EBAY. I told them that we wanted to sell it for the price listed and would be willing to negotiate on it at the time of a offer. They said that was ok.

Later I contacted them by the owner part of the site and lowered the price of the timeshare. I then contacted Kevin White about the possibility for a refund of the $699.00 and he told me that they only do it within one week of listing. He the suggested that I lower the price to be more competitive with the market.

When calling Timeshares by owner you can get a listing agent but to speak with Kevin White you are directed to his voicemail and his message says he will get back to you as soon as he can. Several times he has called me but the last time he emailed me and told me that I could not get a refund per the company policy and suggested I lower the price again.

It all seems very on the up and up when you receive the packet the send after you list. I received a very proffesional envelope with our listing and a receipt for it and also a welcome letter with all the information how to see the listing and a business card with the locations that they have offices. Also included was a printout of a publication they call Timeshare Trends. A one page sheet printed on both sides that talks about different areas of timeshare trends. IE: International,United States, and Florida.

In closing if anyone has any Idea to list with these people please do not do it and you will save yourself alot of aggravation.

What Did They Do Wrong?

You paid them to list your property and they did. This is not a real estate company where you can list and if you do not sell you owe nothing to the broker. You probably should have contacted a real estate agency in the location where your timeshare is but normally they won't mess with timeshares. These are incredible bad choices for investments unless you just want to take advantage of swaps. The only person who makes out on a timeshare is the building owner who can sell an apartment 52 times. Good luck selling your timeshare. They are commonly available for pennies on the dollar and still don't sell.
