Bought a Tracfone via their website to replace an existing Tracfone.  Previous Tracfone would only hold a charge for a 10 minutes or so. 



Friday 12/11/09 - Was told by Tracfone customer service that after initial set up telephone call, it would take an additional 2 hours for the phone to be set up via their wireless system. 



Saturday - Phone did not work, and via another call to customer service, I learned that it could be up to 72 hr before the phone would work. 



Monday (72 hr) 12/14/09- Phone did not work, customer service said that it would be an additional 16 hr.  Also noticed a strange phone behavior - after being disconnected from the charger for only a few minutes, when reconnected the phone would go into a charging mode and lock up for quite awhile.  I suspect that the battery was defective, but I do not know for sure because I could not get the phone to work.



Tuesday 12/15/09 - Phone still does not work, customer service said that it would be an additional 24 hr.  I said, "Do you really think that it will work in 24 hours?" and the honest reply was "No."  Desperate, at this point I abandoned my desire for my former telephone number and requested any number.  The reply was that it will take 24 hours to cancel the first order. 



Saturday 12/19/09 - Phone still does not work.  Customer service now says that it will take another 72 hours.  At this point I am fed up with the lies, and now I get the privilege of mailing their stupid phone back at my expense and I loose all of the air time that I purchased, about $75 worth. 



6 Wasted days and hours on the phone to India.  At least I get something back.  I suspect that they do not fully support phone portability, maybe it is an additional expense.  They are happy to cancel your order since then they do not honor the air time that they have already sold you.  These people are thieves and should be put out of business.



Am I too harsh? no, the phones could easily be set up by Tracfone before they are even sent to customers - if they intended to provide a service at all.

Thank you Tracphone for your concern, but I have returned the Tracphone already.  I bought a Virgin Mobile phone instead, it only took an afternoon to get it up and running.
