TracFone A Total Scam Miami Florida
Bought my 13 yo (responsible) daughter her first mobile phone while in NY for the month of July (for emergencies). Loaded phone w/ 120 min. prepaid card.
Apparently phone needs to be "reactivated" every 90 days (no real reason why except to force you to buy more minutes).
By Dec. the phone was not working, even though she still had 75 min. available. I had to reactivate her phone (a unnecessarily lengthy, drawn-out process) & BUY ADDITIONAL MINUTES!!! I was told "not to worry" that her former minutes would "roll over".
They NEVER did. TracFone apparently has horrible records and can not verify any minute usage (amounts or dates) or transfer of minutes (like ANY other phone company).
At first they told me that minutes do not roll over when a phone is deactivated. Then they told me that they DID roll over & my daughter used all 135 min. in just 30 days (but they have 0 info they can provide as to what, when, how). They expect me to just go on their word (never mind that I never receive any "statements" of usage in the mail or email).
My daughter can NOT use the phone at school, doesn't use it at home, and does not drive ... so there is no reason (she can use her room phone anytime) that she would / could use up over 2 hrs. of time in under 30 days (I know that's usually nothing for most teenagers, and trust me, she does iChat a lot). Remember, she only previously used 45 min. from July - Dec.
ps They round up minutes (5 secs. = 1 min.!!!)

I have had Tracfone for several years, and have no complaints. It has worked well and I have had no problems! True, you have to "renew", however the time length involved varies in accordance with the minutes you buy, and the minutes you have ALWAYS roll-over ( not like some other plans.) I keep a record of the minutes I use, and I have never encountered any accounting inaccuracies. Perhaps you have a real problem, perhaps not, but I am satisfied with Tracfone!
