I have had a loan through Triad for over a year, and have never been late on a payment. I recently went into a dealership to trade in my car. Since I was in good standing with Triad they ran it through them, but I was denied. Here's the kicker! I was denied because they didn't have a phone number for me. Which is interesting since they've never had a problem calling me at home. I later called them, and gave them my number once more.

Since then, I lost my job on Christmas. I called Triad to ask for a deferment, but was told that I could not get one because the timeframe had passed. She said I could get one for next month which would be January, but I'd have to call back in January for that one.

I did call back and put in for a deferment. I recieved a message to call Triad, and did so a couple of days later. The operator on the other end said my deferment was denied because they needed some more information. They asked for my number again! I gave it to them one more time, and was astounded by her response. "We need another number to contact you," she said. I told her I did not have any other number. She asked for my cell, and I told her this was my cell - I don't have a land line. She then asked for a work number. To which I replied that I had none which is why I need the deferment, duh. She then wanted a "friend or relative's" number. I finally gave her a bogus number.

She then asked where I was employed! Where the hell has she been! I just told her I was unemployed! Then she asked how much I made. How many times do I have to tell her I don't make anything, hence the deferment!? After that she asked what benefits I am recieving. I told her again that I was unemployed and had no benefits. She seemed surprised and asked again about the benefits. I asked if she meant unemployment, and she said yes. I told her that I don't collect unemployment. She then asked if I had any money coming in at all. NO!! That's why I need a deferment! She then tells me that they will not give me a deferment because I have no income! What?! That doesn't make any d**n sense. If you are making money they'll give you a deferment, but they won't give an economic hardship deferment? I've never heard of such a practice. I asked her how they expected me to make a payment on time with no income, and no deferment. She had no response, and said that I had til the end of the month, but this is pending approval as well. If this is how they treat people who were never late on a payment, and paid extra every month, how do they treat everyone else?

Is it for a car or something else, or is it unsecured? If it is for a car loan, call them back and tell them is was wrecked and you had no insurance on it, and it is in storage. Tell them if you don't get the deferment, you will lose the car for storage unpaid and they will have to pay to get it back.. Then refuse to give them anymore info until you get the deferment approval in your hand. They will be less willing to come repo a wrecked car, and they certainly don't want to come out of pocket even further for something they will never get paid on! It's a liars poker game.
