December of 2004 I purchased software from this company online. After I downloaded, and installed, I entered my registration number. Immediately there after I tried to use my new program, the program failed, for some reason it had not been installed correctly. That same day I sent an e-mail to tech support. They replied to my e-mail two days later. They gave me new URL and to reinstall the software, which I did. However when prompted to enter my registration key, and upon doing so, it was rejected. I e-mailed them again, and told them what the problem was. This is the message that I received from them.

Dear customer,

Please try the following:

1) Update your computer with Windows Update (Internet Explorer->Tools-

>Windows Update)

2) Scan your computer for viruses. A free online scan can be performed here:

housecall.trendmicro.com

3) Redownload and reinstall TuneUp Utilities 2004.

If this does not work then there is an incompatibilty between your computer and TuneUp and we would need more information to try and solve your problem.

In this case do the following:

1. Click on Start.

2. Click on Run.

3. Type in DXDIAG and press Enter or click OK, this

will open the DirectX diagnostic tool.

4. Click on the Save All Information Button (save

this file to your windows desktop and name it dxdiag).

5. Click on the More Help tab and open the Microsoft

system information tool(MSInfo).

6. Click on File and choose Export (save this file

to your windows desktop and name it MSInfo).

7. Make a screenshot of the problem by pressing the print screen key and pasteing this into your favorite image editing program.

8. Attach the msinfo.nfo, dxdiag and screenshot file to a reply to this email.

Seasons greetings,

Patrick Wolowicz

I sent them a screen shot. I never got a reply on this e-mail at all. In the interim I send several more letters asking them to please send me a new registration code.

Dear Maria,

I have personaly tried your code and it works.

Please enter your username and code exactly as stated below. Take note of capitalization and leave the company field empty. Also make sure you have downloaded the correct trial version (2004) as the codes are not intercompatible.

To make a long story short I never did receive a new registration code. After a while I gave up, so I very politely asked for my money to be refunded to my credit card. After not hearing from them after asking for my money several times, I finally TOLD them I want my money. To date I do not have the software that I payed for in good faith, and I have not been refunded the 39.99 that I paid for the software.

Always use the trial version first. Wait until it is running normally before you buy.

That pretty much sums it up. They offer a free trial version. Perhaps, you could have used it to solve whatever problem you are having. Either way, it would have been prudent to verify that the free trial is installed and working before you offered to make the purchase. Don't you think?
