I am/was an employee with U-Haul international for 12 years, I was recently married in Arizona to my wife and went to U-haul Human Resources to put my wife on my medical insurance, I was told by 2 different people in Human resources that U-haul has adopted a policey to exclude same sex couples from receiving benefits. I showed them that I was leagally married in the state of Arizona but I was told that does not matted, it is U-hauls policy. The following day when I went to work I was called into the office by my boss and questioned about my attempts to gain insuance for my wife, I admitted doing so, my boss asked to comfirm that I am a l*****n, I said yes and was then told that after 12 years of service, I was fired. I am heart broken as is my wife, we also have a 2 years old daughter, my income was all we have.
