Ultimate Unity, Inc. I can't believe I fell for it!! Michigan City, Indiana
I got caught up with a young woman and a young man after my youngest let her in the house! (That's a whole different story!) She was the lead and he was her "trainee". She presented herself and her "business" as a charity operation that was designed to "help get young urban youth-at-risk children off the street". She said she had two small children at home as was trying to set an example for them by not just going on welfare.
Even though I was sick and caught off guard, I did ask a lot of questions and she was quick with an answer to almost all of them. The ones she couldn't answer, she went back to talking about "supporting her own babies, helping children, training young adults for work, getting to see the country and meet people, etc." I'm usually a bit more wary of these kinds of things, having given more than enough money away for fraudulent scams like this in the past, but she was very persistent...giving me SO many ways to make this work for her and bless other children at the same time, etc., and I guess being tired and sick and wanting to go back to bed, I just bought three of the obscenely priced books.
A few days later I came across the receipt and realized I should check them out. I did and found that they are NOT a charity and it WAS just a scam. I called my bank and cancelled the check [it hadn't cleared as of today] so I'm hoping that it doesn't clear before tomorrow when the cancellation is in effect. At least Chase was gracious in not charging me the fee for the cancellation, even offered to without my asking. Keeping my fingers crossed for tomorrow.
