Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I am a collector for ucb. I was informed that a law suit was placed againt me and ucb. They claimed they setteled and I have to pay 50% of it???

they never showed me any documents of this. They informed me that my bonus would be deducted by 50%. They informed me 1 week before my bonus day. On July 24, 2009 the did take 50% and never put this on my check stub as well. They claimed they will be deducting this till it is paid in full.

We were never given any documents agreeing to THIS OR being made aware of this consequence could take place. They also stated there are 20-30 other employees that will be getting hit with this as well. Can they do this?

They encourage us to be aggressive but legal and get the money then leave us like this. I have a family, home and a handicap child I support, I cant keep taking this hit from them. Ucb directors and supervisors claimed this practice is coming from orders from Mike Koruso in the Florida location.

I am also afraid to complain about this for fear I will lose my job. They are also taking accounts of of our unit and putting them in the "house" unit meaning the house will get the commision and not the collecter who got it. They wait till its get old and it is impossible to keep up with acct you have setup months ago. They are stealing our money we have worked for. They do what they have to do to keep us from making large bonuses. There are so many unhappy, scared employees at UCB. HELP!!!!!!!!

Greg Surba, Brian Mashonsky have no respect for the employees. They have screamed, threatened, and cursed and have came out and said we are nothing but dollor signs and thats all that matters. This has been done in front of the Jerry Lacourse the human resource director and other UCB managers. They say we can easily be replaced. UCB has a revolving door for well over 20 years, people quit left & right. A huge turnover of people. They threatened to blackball us from other collection agencies as well by claiming they all know each other.

Another thing they do Is make it impossible to keep track of our totals how much we are really making. They claim our CG screen is never correct. It always show a large amount that the collector made. The CG screen is a tally of the collectors money made. Does software really lie? I suspect it is correct till they dip their crooked hands on it. They constantly make errors on our hours worked, shorting peoples pay all the time. There was a direct pay to UCB of 39,000.00 with was in a collectors unit and he was soppose to get paid for it 14% and all of a sudden a new rule came in place saying direct pays only get 7%. They ripped off the collector. They will admit that rules there can change on a daily basis at any moment and it does!

Ucb is not fair to all collectors upper management play favortism which allow those favorites to make more money. This is the most unenthical company I ever worked for.

#2UPDATE EX-employee responds

Fri, January 23, 2015

I had to add to this story. First I will state that I am the employee that got ripped off from the $39k payment. Robbed of my commission that the company rules said I was owed. Up until the point where I received the payment. The undocumented change was enforced. I later accepted an offer from UCB to work in management. I was promoted to Supervisor, which I held for almost two years until I voluntarily stepped down from after deciding to go another direction with furthering my education. I was then black balled as an employee after this decision. I was given the worst possible opportunity to maintain my employment after stepping down. Them after one month of schooling I received a very apologetic call from HR Jerry Lacourse who said my position was eliminated. First time anyone in the company was let go for this reason. The company used scare tactics with their employees, and management. There is no professionalism, and since no Union exist in the Collections Industry employees are treated like unskilled, and unintelligent individuals. I worked there for 7 years. I can't believe the things that were said and done involving UPPER management. I wouldn't recommend this place to my enemy for work. Whenever The VP of a company can sit and tell the entire site in a meeting to "perform better or go to McDonalds and work, let's me know they're corrupt.
