I thought I was speaking with United Van lines, instead I was getting calls from United Moving Services. They pressured me into leaving a deposit saying I had the next few days to cancel. Instead, 2 days later they said I would be forfeiting my deposit. Complete disregard for customer service and the DOT law that says FROM http://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/protect-your-move/how-to/subpartE You and your mover must sign the order for service. Your mover must provide a dated copy of the order for service to you at the time your mover signs the order. Your mover must provide you the opportunity to rescind the order for service without any penalty for a three-day period after you sign the order for service, if you scheduled the shipment to be loaded more than three days after you sign the order. - See more at: http://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/protect-your-move/how-to/subpartE#sthash.1ZgaDFsw.dpuf I am well within my rights to cancel this request. After several phone calls I was informed the legal dept doesn't care about such a law and I could file a complaint with the FMCSA if desired. My move was canceled, but was not going to be until mid December. It is currently September. It is absolutely absurd not to refund a deposit made for a service three months out, and when legally it is my right to cancel it within three days. Furthermore how is it legal to misrepresent as a national company with only a slight change in name?
