Our neighborhood was targeted by a magazine sales crew member on 5/18/06. Me and at least two of my nearby neighbors ordered subscriptions from a college age female who was claiming to try to earn money and points to go to college to become an elementary teacher. She claimed she was living in the neighborhood with her grandmother and was dropping names of other people that live in my neighborhood.

After I placed my $64 order to United Subscription Agency in the form of both cash and check, I was suspicious when I learned the salesperson failed to give my husband a copy of one of the receipts for Budget Living Magazine. I later found out this magazine ceased publication in Dec. '05. I sent a letter to USA within the three business days required on the back of the receipt. I only received my $24 check back. They did not send back the remaining $40. I sent my refund letter by certified mail. Catherine Key was the person who signed for the letter. If this company was legit, they would have followed through with the salesperson who walked away with my cash.

They would be able to track her down since I sent them a copy of the one receipt she gave me and now I also have proof that they had their hands on my check. I also learned from our police department that someone else was arrested that same evening for selling magazines at a store parking lot.

the story you tell sounds like a common one even from our sales points were the following 1 you live in the neighborhood 2 your visiting grandma/grandpa 3 your trying to win a contest ( for 1000 bucks or something like that) 4 you are doing this for school 5... you get th idea the reason we were told to use these high pressure sales tactics is this simply " its your job to make money for our company if you don't your out on ur hind quarters I was recruited into this gig ( my other report is listed) and our "gaol" was 40 a week ( sales wise that is) and then when you think about leavig you are given a leave now or get the $#!+ beat out of you someone needs to sue about workers rights to this company
