Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

I decided to take a second-degree RN-BSN degree from UMUC.  In my second course there, HMGT-372, the instructor claims that APA citation errors constitute plagiarism.  I contacted the school to contest this instructors assertion, who gave me a zero for my report, which was a large part of my grade.  The school did nothing to the instructor, would not adress the instructor's incompetence in grading, and I ended up withdrawing from the course, losing the over $1,000 I paid for the course, and having to start my degree anew at another school.

UMUC only graduates 6% of its undergraduate students!  There is virtually no way at UMUC to contest a grade other than going through a process several months post the end of the course and filing a complaint against the instructor.  UMUC has never changed a grade that an instructor gave a student that was incorrect!  The instructor can do whatever they desire, make whatever claims they desire, and UMUC will allow the instructor to do this.

UMUC is defrauding the U.S. Government, as only 6% of its undergraduate students ever graduate.  Most of the students who do not graduate end up defaulting on their student loans.  How can a University, a State of Maryland University at that, have only 6% of their students graduate and continue to received federal financial aid funds, let alone remain in existence!  At 6% graduation rate, UMUC has one of the lowest graduation rates of any school in the country.

Let's contact congress and get these crooks put out of business.  If they did not exist then students would select another school that does not routinely discriminate against students, and where students could actually graduate and receive gainful employment, rather than not being employed, as they have no degree, and ending up defaulting on their student loans, costing taxpayers millions of dollars.

Instructor is a known black racist!

According to information on the internet, this instructor is a known "black racist."  I am Jewish and I am 62 years old.  I have had problems with UMUC regarding them making me take general education courses that were not required because I am a second degree student.

UMUC is a total scam!  This instructor, besides being a "black racist" is incompetent.  The issue he was making regarding APA was that for a block quote it should have been indented, while I quoted the block but did not indent the block.

This is an undergraduate course and the course assignment rubric allowed for a 5 point deduction for not correctly following APA guidelines.  But, instead the instructor falsely accused me of plagiarism and gave me zero for an assignment worth a very large percentage of the course grade.  So, I ended up having to drop the course, and lose over $1,000.  This sort of thing happens all of the time with UMUC.  They are only concerned with taking in students money, but they have no interest in seeing students graduate, pass courses, etc.  I reported what happened to UMUC's administration and they never replied, never did anything about it, etc.  Ask anyone who has every had a problem with UMUC and they will tell you that whenever they had a problem there that the UMUC administration never helped them, never responded to their requests for help with the problem, etc.

UMUC only passes 6% of all of its undergraduate students, and most of these students get financial aid.  UMUC has 80,000+ students and is the largest fraud against taxpayers in the country.  Because only 6% of UMUC's student actually graduate, most students end up defaulting on their student loans, leaving the U.S. taxpayers to foot the bill.  UMUC has the lowest undergraduate graduation rate of any public College/University in this country.

Let's shut this scam university down and stop taxpayers from being defrauded further!

Please write to the President, the President-elect Trump, and your U.S. representative and senator to tell them that scams such as UMUC, where only 6% of students graduate, are a ripoff of U.S. taxpayers and they need to be shut down; and the people doing this within their administration need to be prosecuted.

A better idea

Pay better attention to what you are submitting to your professors and avoid these "citiation errors".

APA is a very ridgid standard.  In the real world, having a single "citation error" may be enough to get you discredited by the entire Psychological community, and you indicated you had more than one.  In the real world even if they were minor the mulitple errors could be enough to keep you from getting published for the rest of your life.

So was your "error" plagiarism?  Was the professor too hard on you?  Can't tell you and not going to go there because I have no idea what the errors were.

But what I can say is that even if it wasn't plagiarism, you don't deny the error.  That alone could be enough to constitue a failing grade by itself if the paper was supposed to be in the APA standard.

College isn't supposed to be a walk in the park that you can just coast through.
