just because you can turn something in up until 12 midnight on the due date or last day of online class doesn't mean you should. as rick said, you took a gamble and lost. i'm sorry to hear that. there was a lot at stake, too. with online courses the policy is this: a paper or assignment can be turned in up to 4 days after the due date with penalties imposed for late submission DURING the class. at 12 midnight on the last day of class, the digital gates close for good. i had one of my students go through the same thing. she would have gotten an "A," but because she got her paper in @ 12:01, she received no credit for it and got a "C" for the class. while it's true there is a certain degree of leeway for facilitators, if they let one person get away with it... i'm sorry you are in this tough situation, ashley, but learn from it. try to dispute it for sure, but accept no for an answer if that is the case.

Hi Ashley, I turned in my final assignment exactly at midnight Arizona time and my paper was accepted. Believe it or not the facilitators do have some leeway. Technically your paper was late. Any second past 12 o'clock midnight is regarded as the next day. My paper was technically late, but my instructor accepted the paper because I had a fair instructor and he interpreted the wording to mean before 12:01 am. Another instructor may not have been so gracious. The fact is a final paper should not be taken lightly. Any other paper would have received a reduction in grade, but the final paper does not have that luxury. We were both wrong because an important paper, such as, the final paper should be ready at least a day ahead of time, and submitted. What if the power went out or the university had a failure at their end. What if my computer crashed an hour before it was due. I could not run out with a flash drive and expect a library to be open. I took a chance and I did not pay the price. You took a chance and paid for it. Ashley, as former soldier, I can tell you first hand that life is not fair, so you better get used to it. Be prepared for the unexpected. If you were the last one to fall in for formation in my platoon you would be doing push-ups until your arms fell off. Respectfully, Rick from Ct.
