This is an Answer to the post of GEORGE 10/29/12. We normally don't bother to answer the internet posts, because most of them are false, or contain false information, or are written by the competition. In this case, we decided that ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.
US-1 VAN LINES has been serving our clients for over 22 years. US-1 has moved more than 60,000 clients in this time. The percentage of folks who have a complaint about their move are extremely small. Reference letters from our actual clients can be requested as well. In fact, US-1 is a proud member of the Better Business Bureau and has been given their highest A ratings.
US-1 has serviced not only residential clients, but other clients as well in our past years of service: Police Station, Court House, Senator, some sports celebrities, and even the Girl Scouts! US-1 also offers free on site estimates to provide you an actual Estimate of Cost in person at your job site, prior to your move.
With respect to GEORGE, here's what he's not telling you. He had requested a quote for moving from his home into US-1's storage facility. He needed storage. He was provided extremely detailed information in writing via email, including that the move would be charged by an hourly rate ($119), with a 3 hour minimum, and that if he needed any packing materials like mattress covers or boxes, etc., he could purchase them the day of the move. He wrongly stated that during his obtaining qoutes, "our cost would be $357 for 3 hours". He does acknowledge his hourly rate, but fails to mention the text of the quote said the price shown for 3 hours is the MINIMUM price.
On the day of the move, George and his wife called repeatedly to say the movers were "taking too long". The fact of the matter is that George didn't finish his packing, so the movers had to perform a partial packing service also. The move size for George was equivalent to a full moving truck. Prior to leaving for the unloading into the US-1 warehouse, George and his wife complained again about how much the supplies were going to cost him. George was offered a courtesy discount, but refused it, saying it wasn't "acceptable".
When movers are done at a pick up going to their own storage, it is customary to collect payment for the move prior to leaving for the warehouse, since the client doesn't typically come to the warehouse. At this point, George didn't even have the money to pay for the basic minimum 3 hours ($357). He only had $300 with him. The movers had to wait for George and/or his wife to go to the bank and get money to pay for their move. They returned from the bank and still did not have enough money for their bill. US-1 accepted the payment given ($600), and the items continued on their way to the warehouse, which was their contracted destination. AT NO TIME WAS THEIR SHIPMENT "HELD HOSTAGE" AS GEORGE FALSELY WROTE.
George wanted storage for a few months. George was given one month free storage. He falsely wrote above that he was not given the first month free. He was. During the time in storage, US-1 asked George and his wife to please finish paying for the move into the storage.
Finally, after THREE months of reminding George and his wife to please pay their bill, George and his wife paid their move into storage in full, paid their storage bills, and arranged for delivery out of storage.
At this point, George and his wife were told they would have the SAME HOURLY RATE for the next move, from the warehouse to their new home. They were told to have the proper form of payment (cash or Cashier Check, or major credit card) because payment had been an issue with this client from the first date of service.
At delivery, guess what???? Yep, George and his wife did NOT have the payment ready for the crew. They wanted to try to give the foreman a personal check. This, of course, was not an option. George's wife then yelled at our representative, hurling expletive curse words and threatening major internet damage to our company, "wait and see" threatening kind of language.... and then went to the bank and got the money to pay for their delivery.
So, folks out there in the internet land reading this post.... please realize that not all consumers are telling you the real facts, or all of the facts. And, unfortunately, most of the time, complaints by a consumer are made out of their own frustration from not understanding information provided to them in advance of their move, nor on the day of the move, nor on the Terms and Conditions set forth by the State or Federal agencies for their type of move.
When you get moving quotes, please ask for a free on site estimate. Most movers, including US-1, will send you a representative to ensure you know your budget and what to expect for a final cost for your move. And, don't forget, if you have not packed, the mover will charge you for packing labor and materials. Therefore, the more you do to get yourself ready for the mover, the less your move will cost.
If you have any other questions about any complaints made online about US-1, please feel free to call us. You can reach us at 888-MoveUS1. Thanks!
