After banking with Firstar Bank for over 35 years, they have stolen over $1500 from me within the last month from nsf fees which should never have occurred. After fighting and fighting with the manager and district manager, they returned $300. So they only screwed me out of $1200. I should be thankful??? It all started when a payroll deposit did not get immediate credit. I had about $400 is my account and deposited another $850 from the same payroll account as always.

The same day, 1 check for $829 came in and about 5 small checks not even totaling $100 also came in. The total in my account was $1250. The paid all checks and charged me $198 in nsf fees. I did not get a notice of the overdraft until 7 days after it occurred. The envelope wasn't even postmarked until 2 days after. The next day after the original fiasco, about 5 more checks came in totaling about $100 as well as a deposit for $475 cash, but they charged me another $165 in fees. I got the notice of this event 9 days after it happened.

Two days after the second fiasco, my automatic payroll check was transferred; but because of the $363 fees, a couple more checks got nsf fees. By now over $500 in fees had been taken from my account without me receiving any notice in the bank. I made another deposit of several thousand dollars, but again same story.

Finally, with the several thousand dollar deposit, the nsf fees stopped. But still no notice until a couple days after the last big deposit. My automatic deposit went in last night and I checked to see another 5 nsf fees for checks totaling less than $75. Great treatment for a 35 year customer.

When I told them I couldn't continue like this with no notice and that I would have to move my account, I was told that was my perogative. If you want to be mugged, open an account with US Bank. They took more than if they had held me up with a gun. U S Bank is US Bunk or US Skunk. It all stinks.

Check with the bank for a copy of thier "Funds Availability Policy". This MUST be posted in the lobby and available to you. Also inquire as to what order checks are cleared on your account. Do they clear high to low, low to high or check number order. All methods are legal, check number order is most ethical and logical. Was you pay deposited via electronic means or did you present a check to the teller or night drop? If it was electronic, funds MUST be made available the next BANKING day. If you deposited a check, check to see when the funds would become available to cover checks clearing on your account. If there are irregularities in how your funds were handled, check which government agency regulates US Bank. (FDIC, OTS, OCC, FDIC) Write to their regulatory complaint department with as great a detail as possible. Note to them signs of a Regulation CC violation. If your funds were handled in compliance with the Funds policy, consider your self lucky to gotten any of the fees waived. Good luck
