I received an offer in the mail summer 2004 for a credit card with $7,500 credit limit. It required a temporary payment of $149.00 from bank account to be recredited after first purchase.

When I received the USA Platinum card I discovered that it was only for credit for purchases at their internet mall. It indicated that the $149.00 they received earlier would be credited against purchases made within thirty days of receipt of card. I misplaced the paper work I received with the card. When I tried to find the internet site by searching for the card name all I could find was usaplatinumcard.com. It did not provide any information about the shopping club. The "shopping club was hidden."

I eventually got a telephone number. We have been very busy with a move and family tragedies. Today I called the number and got the address of the internet site: usashoppingclub.com.

The discount prices on name-brand merchandise is 20-30% higher than actual prices for products. Virtually every item that one would be interested in purchasing cannot be purchased with the "credit card." The selection of products is poor, appear to be second-market products, and many products have unknown name brands.

The websites should be closed down as a tool for criminal fraud. Every detail of the websites and the only purpose of the websites is to steal from heedless persons like me.

The advertisements have the look of a legitimate credit card vendor from the ostentatious name of usa platinum card. The sum total of money stolen by the criminals behind the sites must be very substantial.

Ripoffreport.com is an excellent idea. I heard the interview of the founder a couple days ago. Thank you for the service.

JUST ANOTHER SCAM

#2Consumer Comment

I thoughtI was applying for a credit card, I was really stupid not to investigate further. I called the company to cancel and was given alot of grief about closing my account. The girl suggested I look at the web site and if I did not like what I saw, to call back. I proceeded to look at the web site and also found the products to be overpriced for what I have found at other places and when I asked about something I would like to purchase because the price was in red I had to pay the full price and not use the payment plan. I then asked for a refund and was given the run around and the customer service reprensative was not as nice as when you call the first to ask about the web site. I also found out that I now have to wait 10 to 14 days to receive my refund minus a $10.00 fee. Please read the advertisment very carefully before signing up. DO NOT BE SCAMMED LIKE ME!!!!

This offer is a steaming load and luckily I figured it out right away while in the process of getting this credit. Now I found it odd that someone tring to help me establish my credit would want to charge me $79 as a fee for setting up the card. These people think you are stupid and will say anything to get your account number and charge you a fee. Then offer you a poor selection of products for 20 to 30% more than they are worth. Do not be fooled people! This is a scam and when their website goes under and is gone so will be gone your so called credit. They diddn't get me. Also I don't recall ever requesting this credit line in the first place and that to me made it suspect since my household is on the do not call list. Bastards I don't deserve this crap and niether does anyone else.

Very Sad......

#8Consumer Comment

Tue, October 19, 2004

I find it to be a very sad day when there is nothing but, complaints to be heard from people who obviously didn't have the right information supplied to them. I have recently opened an account, oredered and received my items from USASHOPPINGCLUB.COM. I have researched this company and found nothing substantially wrong besides the people it attempts to help. I was provided with confirmation numbers, toll-free customer service numbers, web address, I contacted this company to receive a catalog and received a response in less than two hours answering all my questions in writing. I'm sorry to hear that people continue to damage their credit by failing to research the situation thoroughly. Better luck next time.

STOP PAYMENT WITH YOUR INSTITUTION FIRST

#10Consumer Comment

Once you call your financial institution, they will be the persons to decline paying the FRAUD COMPANY. This is what I have done the night before payment was scheduled to be paid, and guess what - I luckily did not have to pay. Check out thoroughly any new offers. I certainly will.Good Luck.

Credit Card Fraud

#11Consumer Comment

Sat, August 14, 2004

I apllied for a card with usa platinum and now I am finding allthese reports on fraud for this company. They have already took my $150 and now I am unhappy. I thought this was my chance to rebuild some credit. You can only shop online with their company with the card. Who needs a card like that. The number they give is nothing but a recording and no one to talk to. However, I did get someone before the funds were taken and she informed me that it could not be stopped. She never told me that I had to shop online. This is a scandal. DO not be fooled like I was. If your credit needs help. This company is not the one. AVOID AT ALL COST!
