We signed up with this company 4 years ago for a 10 week package and have been disappointed ever since. They are slow to respond to requests, have lots of extra charges and do not have the "large inventory" the salesman promised at contract signing.

The latest insult involves a request for 2 units for 1 week in Chincoteague Virginia. Salesman assured us that inventory was available at this popular seashore resort on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. When we contacted Vacation Network to locate a property, nobody on the staff even knew the area existed and tried to switch us to Virginia Beach or Ocean City, MD. (Chincoteague is home to a National Wildlife Refuge and is widely known for it's herd of wild ponies).

Of course we had already sent them the required $800 deposit to cover 2 units, including the prime season penalty and East Coast seashore penalty. After a month of stalling on their part, it became clear they could not deliver and we put a deposit on a house with a local broker in Virginia. At the same time we requested a refund from Vacation Network.

It has been over 3 months now and they have an excuse every time we contact them. "The person you spoke with is no longer with the company" "Somebody should have contacted you by now". Etc, etc. In the meantime, they now claim that a property is available, but it is not large enough to accomodate our request. A letter to the President of the company was never answered.

Does anyone know if they still conduct sales in New Jersey? My lawyer says we have a better chance of legal action if yes.

AVAILIBILITY IS KEY FOR RESERVATIONS

This person's first paragraph of complaints is a total contradiction to the contract they signed; therefore, agreeing to the terms and conditions. They feel we were slow in responding to their reservation request, yet our contract states to please allow up to 45 days to process the request and that some request may take longer due to areas with limited availibilty, and requests for 2 bedroom units. These "extra charges" are all explained to them at the time of signing the contract and are listed quite clearly in the contract, and on the reservation request form they fill our and submitt to our office. And as for "large inventory", this depends on where clients are trying to travel. There are plenty of places that do not offer resorts, or have vacation areas. We search for what may be available in the area the clients are requesting, and go outside of the area as well. This person found a rental home on their own in Chincoteague, and requested that Vacation Network, Inc. pay for half of their expense for this property. Our program is not set up this way. We are a business to locate accomodations for our clients, in our inventory, and if the requested vacation area is not available, we will exhaust all avenues for this client, or refund the fees submitted for the request. As stated by this person, we did offer accomodations to them, what we had in our inventory and available. Their "letter" to the President of our company was never answered, because we never received any letter addressed to him. Our only letters from this client were addressed to our Customer Service Manager. This client is also aware that we no longer have sales offices in New Jersey, because they have been in contact with our corporate office quite recently. As Vacation Network, Inc is sympethic to this persons complaints, we do not feel we are dishonest or do not provide the services as stated in our contract...
