VERIZON FOR THE PAST 2 YEARS GAVE ME  A LOYALTY DISCOUNT ON MY HOME PHONE BILL.

RECENTLY MY PHONE BILL JUMPED FROM APPROX $35 A MONTH TO $71 PER NONTH.

RECENTLY IN A TAPED CONVERSATION I WAS TOLD BY A VERIZON REP THAT THAT THEY WOULD NO LONGER HONOR THIS DISCOUNT UNLESS I SWITCHED FROM COPPER WIRING TO FIBER.

THE PROBLEM WITH THAT IS I LIVE ON LONG ISLAND AND IF THERE IS ANOTHER STORM LIKE HURRICANCE SANDY THEN I WILL HAVE NO PHONE SERVICE SINCE FIBER DOES NOT CONDUCT ELECTRICITY. COPPER WIRING DOES WORK IN THESE TYPES OF STORMS.

BATTERY BACK UP IS NOT AN OPTION BECAUSE IT ONLY LASTS A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF HOURS AND THEN IT NEEDS TO BE RE-CHARGED. IF THE POWER IS OUT IN MANY PLACES IN MY AREA THAT WILL BE VERY DIFFICULT TO DO.

VERIZON EVIDENTLY DOES NOT CARE ENOUGH ABOUT IT'S CUSTOMERS.

MY COUNTY LEGISLATOR AGREES THIS IS PRICE GOUGING AND SAYS THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO HER.

THE FCC REP ALSO AGREES WITH ME.

A COMPLAINT WAS MADE TO THE FCC AND THE MATTER HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED AS OF YET.
