Vest Interest in K9s, Inc. Sandy Marcel- Founder Shady Non-Profit that uses K9 Handlers to raise the money for them. East Taunton, Massachusetts
This organization is a Non Profit- however- they over charge their K9 Handers in need for their Ballistic Vests. Also the handlers are required to raise the money on their own. This is not the normal way a Non-profit runs. Currently, the founder is using Groupon for fundraising which suggests that the Vested Interest in K9s will get their cut but in recent Media reports the consumers never end up with their Groupon Purchase.
Vest Interest K9s has stated that they have raised over $50,000 in days. That should be more than enough to provide Ballistics Vests for their entire waiting list and beyond. Yet, they are still collecting money. How can this be? Where is all that money going? A full account of who and how much each donated Ballistic Vest costs should be listed for the public to see. As well as the plans for the remaining monies. Will it be used for other equipment? There are many questions in this method of fundraising that needs to be addressed. As well as the consumer needs to read up on Groupon and it's current financial state before they make a purchase.
The most disturbing and a huge downside of this organization is its need to hurt organizations that are trying to do the same as they are. Protect K9 Officers with Ballistic Vests. Instead, they have chosen to single out smaller organization by contacting that organizations handlers during fundraising and telling them they the organization is not providing them with the proper equipment. We should all be on the same team and it should not be about the money.
