I have been looking at purchasing a men's leather jacket for the last several weeks. I bought one at Bloomingdales during their friends and family event. The retail price was $598, but during the friends and family event, I got a 20% discount, so the price was about $520 after taxes.
After the purchase, I started looking around the internet to see if I could get the same jacket for less. I saw several shopping sites, but then came across www.victorsleather.com in one of my searches. It had the same John Varvatos leather jacket for $185 with free shipping. I was also looking at another jacket, the Theory Reague Canis leather jacket and Victor's Leather also had that one, for $285 (retail $995). Victor's Leather had the correct retail prices listed for both jackets and I was thinking to myself, how could this site sell them for so much cheaper?!? I thought maybe they were the manufacturer in China and these were over-runs or something off the books.
I noticed Victor's Leather had an address listed in Walnut, CA, which isn't too far from my house in Los Angeles, so I emailed the company from their "Contact Us" page and got a response from the email address [email protected]. The email was cordial and seemed like it could be from a company in the USA. The response was "Thanks for contacting us. We want to inform you that yes, Reague Canis Leather jacket and John Varvatos Star Leather Moto jacket are in stock available for shipping. You can order it anytime from our website. Please visit www.victorsleather.com anytime to place your order or you can visit our USA office.
We have one of our outlet in Walnut, CA. The full address is 20639 Lycoming St Walnut, CA 91789. Regards" The email also carbon copied (CC) a [email protected].
I was starting to lean towards making an order, but I had a funny feeling that the site might not be real, so I wanted to think about it for a while longer and do more research. So I emailed the person back, "Hello and thank you for the reply.
Do you have both the Theory Reague Canis Leather jacket (medium) and John Varvatos Star Leather Moto jacket (small) in stock at your Walnut, CA location? What are the days and hours that the outlet is open? Do I need to make an appointment or can I just walk in? Cheers."
For which, I received this reply: "Hello
I want to inform you that our USA head office in Walnut is not our warehouse or showroom. Its a customer care office where we solve our delivery, and exchange & return related issues. That's why we have very few items available in our office, so unfortunately i cannot assure you that whether you will really get your desired item there or not. So i recommend you to place your order online and get the item on your door step within 3 to 14 days of placing the order.
Note: Delivery time is 3 to 14 days which depends on shipping address and payment method. Orders made by PayPal usually get shipped earlier and take less time to get delivered. Regards"

I thought it was strange that the person didn't sign his name in the email.
Another clue that made me suspicious was that the product photos used on the victorsleather.com website were the exact same pictures from Bloomingdales.com and Nordstrom.com. I knew they were the same because the male models were the same guys.
Before I was going to take a chance on an order, I thought I would drive to the Walnut, CA location and check it out, however, I found the previous person's Ripoff Report online before driving to Walnut, CA. Needless to say, I did not go to their Walnut store or place an order at victorsleather.com.
So, I want to thank the previous person for saving me some time and money! Thank you!!!
