While walking out of a store in a strip mall two men approached me in a van asking if I wanted to purchase a home theater system. I told them I didn't want anything stolen and they assured me it wasn't stolen. I thought I might as well take a look at the product. The two men had a few boxes of speakers, a project and a projector screen. Exact brands would be Madrid Audio V-2 and Volare HD-18K. They had told me that they had to meet their boss soon but had recieved a few extra home theater systems than had been ordered.

They were installers from Vancouver so they couldn't just bring them back home and needed to sell them before their boss found out. The mistake was made at the US border so they had gotten them for free and were trying to make a quick buck. They told me they are worth thousands of dollars a piece and had receipts and prices listed on the box to prove it. They wanted fifteen hundred dollars for a whole system. I was an idiot and didn't even try to haggle the price. They asked me if I had a Visa and I told them I didn't.

We then drove to the nearest bank to get my 1500$ and they put the system in my car, drove off and told me I owed them some beer if I ever saw them again. I hadn't had a chance to set anything up till a few months later and now I feel like a moron. The projector is horrible, the lighting is terrible, it is not HD or 3D like the specs state. The speakers litteraly have granite glued to the insides to make them seem heavier. The only thing I bought that was actually close to what they told me it was worth was the projector screen. The man gave me his BC drivers license number, but I don't know any way to find someone with that information without police help. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

And what did you expect them to say?

I told them I didn't want anything stolen and they assured me it wasn't stolen
- So you expected them to say "Oh yes you caught me..this is stolen merchandise, why don't you drive me to the police so I can turn myself in".

By the way, you have his License number...do you really think that he gave you his REAL number?

Also, why are you asking for help on some public internet site.  If the police are the only ones who can assist you..why aren't you going to them?  Could it be because if the stuff was stolen, there is no way that the police would believe your story that you believed it wasn't?
