I signed up for vonage broadband internet phone service. The customer service Rep. waived the set-up fee and I agreed to pay a $14.99 shipping fee for the phone adapter. The adapter arrived 4 days later. I installed the adapter and was able to place local and long distance calls right away.

However, I was not able to receive any calls from anyone. If someone tried to call my Vonage number all they got was one or two rings and a busy signal. I contacted the Vonage customer care center and was directed to a service Tech. and explained my problem to them. The Tech assured me that the problem would be taken care of within two or three days and that they would keep me posted of the progress.

Eight days later and I still had the same problem and not one E-Mail or phone call from Vonage to let me know when I could expect the problem to be resolved. I called the service center and talked, or tried to talk, to a Tech. that I could not understand one word he was saying. But he managed to get it accross to me that the problem, again, would be resolved in two or three days.

Another eight days and my patience had worn thin. I called to cancel the service and in one minute flat, they had taken $39.99 out of my bank account for the phone adapter without my consent. I was told that when I sent the adapter to the Vonage Return Center the $39.99 woulde be refunded. I returned the adapter with everything it came with, even the twist ties, the same day. If I do get the $39.99 back I will be surprised.

I have talked to five people from my area and they all had the same problem as I did with Vonage, even after having the service for 60 days. I will do everything I can to discredit this company and make sure none of my friends or people I talk to get scammed by Vonage, I have filed a complaint with the Consummer Protection Agency and contacted my state Rep about them.

Also, Vonage sent, in an E-Mail to me, something that blocked any attempt to login to my Vonage account or access their web site. I found it in My Documents, on my computer, after I downloaded their instructions to return the adapter. This is wrong people.

Regardless of which method I used to pay for the shipping of the router, it is still a rip-off. How I paid them is NOT the point in question. The point is, Vonage took money from me without my consent, after they did not live up to their contract and I state again, 30 day FREE trial, Free my butt! What was free?

I too signed up with Vonage. I thought hey, what a great deal. Well, I got it all hooked up, seemed to work just fine. But I noticed I wasn't getting too many calls. Then my friends told me, that they wern't getting through to me. Well I canceled my service with them, and now just sticking to my cell phone. Funny thing is, that I lost my wallet a couple weeks ago, and had all my debit, and credit cards cancelled. I am happy about that too, cuz now Vonage won't be able to bill me the almost 40 bucks.

i dont understand why people give out there checking account numbers and credit card numbers. i use prepaid credit cards for these things and always keep a zero balance so if they tried they couldnt get squat, when it is tim eto pay the bill i add the money to the card and pay them, i had problems with vonage and they never got to take any fees or anything else for that matter out of my accounts cause i used the prepaid credit card... some say its not worth it cause when you load money on the card it cost you $4.95 fee to do it... but look at what happened to you, they charged you way more than that in just a minutes worth of time while you talked to them for the router...
