I have had nothing but problems since signing up with Vonage Feb 2006. If you lose your service (which has happened to me many times) then you better be prepared to speak to a "non-English", outsourcing person in India, who cannot pronounce half the necessary words correctly in order for you to help them, help you, fix your own phone line. I had Verizon before and never had any problems, then to "save money" we switched to Vonage. HUGE MISTAKE!!!

The hold times are forever anywhere from 10 to 45 mins at a time! Then they transfer you to different departments and you are again put on hold. All this to speak to someone in another country you cannot even understand. They will not cancel your number without you losing the same number that you've possibly had for years, (17 years for me). If you do opt to cancel, which I haven't YET, the only way to do it is that and lose both money and your number. I have been paying for 2 months of service with no land line at all. I gave up trying after numerous phone calls, transfers to different depts. and frustration, to say the least. Also, they do not make calls out so when demanding to ask to speak to a supervisor they flat out refused (due to them being on other incoming calls )and stated they couldn't call me either.

I did request 2 months ago a transfer back to Verizon, just as soon as I lost my service. They delayed "releasing" my number back to Verizon twice now and still have not done so. They claim that they don't "hold" numbers, yet when throughly questioned by me, they stated that their "courrier", which can't be reached by them or me via telephone, only by email, was responsible to "release" my number and they were behind on processing the request for releasing of numbers. So, bottom line, don't try to save money by switching your telephone carrier to Vonage, they rip you off of time, money and any kind of service! Don't be another Vonage victim like me!
