I have been a Marriott patron for 27 years. I am a lifetime Platinum card holder in the Marriott honored guest awards program. I have spent over 2000 nites in Marriott properties over the years. This is in my humble opinion the most unMarriott like Marriott I have ever stayed at. I am in the hotel for 90 days while home repairs are being done. Parking is $13 per nite and on the weekends they NEVER empty the trash cans by the elevators in the garage letting trash accumulate on the floors. I actually live in the area and this is going on for at least four years and by Sunday its a ridiculous mess. The G.M. CLAY ANDREWS takes a position that it is not his responsibility. The outdoor bar by the pool is supplied with ice, beer kegs, glass wear and other items and equipment via hauling it on shoulder top and carts straight through the dining area of the indoor restaurant and lobby as a short cut instead of using the service entrance in the back. Bartenders tell customers that food will take "forever" so "order in the restaurant". It's the same kitchen for gods sake. The pool runs out of towels routinely. Elevators break down and don't get repaired for days. Cigarette butts collect on the walkway from parking to the entrance and the outdoor carpet in front of the "Grand Ballroom" is constantly dirty and littered. Its a shame because it is a nice facility and for years was run professionally until 4 years ago when  Andrews took over. Food is above average here but the menu is extremely limited. When ever there is a banquet function here the restaurant BREEZE runs out of tea spoons and sets the tables without. Crazy, huh? There are no exhaust fans in the guest room bathrooms. The lobby is newly redone and pretty nicely so. May I compliment the many employees who work hard here and do their best despite a general manager who in my opinion neglects his responsibilities,   has a terrible attitude, and again in my opinion should not have nor does he deserve his job here.

I should mention too that in August & September for two years in a row ANDREWS hosts a RECOVERY SUNDAYS program in which a DJ blasts loud music all day and patrons are brought in via a promotional company for an entrance fee producing a heavy drinking, scantily clad  group of partiers. Even the female wait staff walks around with too short daisy duke shorts and promoting a sexually charged atmosphere. Shame on Marriott Corp and Tishman Hotels Corp (The Franchee), and especially CLAY ANDREWS for degrading Woodland Hills and ignoring common decency at this property.  When I complained vehemently and threatened via email to call Marriott corp. ANDREWS sent police to my room with what I believe in my opinion to be drug paraphernalia from some other guest claiming it to be mine. Although not charged with a crime child protective services took my daughter.

R in Canada -
First,  I will reiterate: I AM NOT THE OWNER OF THIS POST.

Secondly, after reading your latest posting, I chose to re-read all postings in this thread by the originator (Who is NOT me) and yourself. I came to the conclusion that you, without a doubt, are an agent or affiliate with/for Marriott or a Marriott entity. I've noted numerous comments you made in response to the OP's postings that I cannot substantiate since the OP never stated such.

Since I hail from the publishing industry and have 20+ years reading, proofing and verifying continuity. I have the keen ability to review facts, understand the written word and red flag items that offer contradictory information.

You claim that you are a 3rd party and not in Marriott's employ yet you have taken quite an interest in the originating posters comments. What, if you have no proprietary interest may I ask, is your original reason for reading and ultimately responding to the "OP's" post or mine for that fact?

What would possess anyone not directly involved, (or a complainant with similar issues with this particular Marriott local), to take so much time out of their life to rebut and decipher this thread?

When I read the OP's original posting, I never took it that his/her daughter was put last. Rather I read it as if this person offering and informative dissertation as to what lead up to what ultimately seems like a nightmare.

I am not the OP. I have no children. I can't imagine what this person is going through. I'm just wondering which of the nice people that was standing at the elevator with me, talking about the various issues that irked us all, is the unfortunate recipient of what appears to me as a retaliatory act.

R from Montreal and CLAY ANDREWS

#3Author of original report

Mon, August 20, 2012

I wonder how R from Montreal even ever stumbled upon a report regarding a hotel over 3000 miles from his location when it's got supposedly no common affiliation with him. I wonder how a resident of Canada could care so much. I am baffled how a person could keep repeating his  suggestion to "don't stay there if you don't like it" when the Marriott corp not only GUARANTEES a particular standard of service to it's patrons but also provides a customer consumer affairs department to assist their loyal customers to achieve relief from failure to receive that service standard level.
I am bewildered how a responsible adult could find it "whiny and entitled" that a hotel guest would feel violated in actually losing custody of his only child for 45 days so far and counting due to that guest alleging of false statements made by the facilities general manager which caused his young child to be uprooted from her life and detained in foster homes because that manager did not want to pay his employees to empty the trash which is one of his indisputable responsibilities. What is your deal Mr R from Montreal? Do you have some association with CLAY ANDREWS or the WARNER CENTER MARRIOTT? Are you affiliated with TISHMAN HOTELS INTERNATIONAL? Or are you just another hotel general manager who like CLAY ANDREWS just hates to spend the money required to run a tight ship?
In this case I am seeing that 1+1 IS in fact looking like it does add up to = 2. As a matter of fact if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck then it must be a duck. Why is R from Montreal so worried about the way CLAY ANDREWS is perceived instead of worrying about how CLAY ANDREWS should be running his business and keeping himself above these type of stories. This is about consumer satisfaction and CLAY ANDREWS does not deliver.

You should know by reading this that the entire post is a crock of bullShyt! It stinks so bad it smells like a dairy farm.

The original poster (OP) wrote: "... I should mention too that in August & September for two years in a row ANDREWS hosts a RECOVERY SUNDAYS program in which a DJ blasts loud music all day and patrons ..."  Yet he still felt like this would be a great place for his daughter to spend the next three months of her life....HMMM?

All of these other complaints that the OP was well aware of PRIOR to this stay and he stays anyway....Kinda makes you want to scratch your head...

But you read on and then you think:

Who in their right mind would file a complaint about 'teaspoons and trash cans' and then in the last sentence mention that <oh by the way> their daughter was taken by the police!?

SHM!!!!

THere were no less than 15 lines about all this other stupid stuff to include compliements about the hotel's decor and the hard working carpenters, and then in the last line, 'oh yeah, I think that the manager planted drugs in my room and the police took my daughter'.... What in the helllll????

SERIOUSLY!~?

Wouldn't most people think that THAT is more important than all of the other trival things combined?

If he would have just posted, "My daughter taken after drugs planted by the managment", people would be in front of the hotel right now with pitchforks and torches.....but you can see what his priorities are....in his little missive his daughter's trama warranted only ONE line at the bottom of the page. After the price of parking! So seriously, if someone has contracted to spend $40k in three months, they would have thier own concierge assigned to them and they wouldn't be complaining about a meger $13 for parking....

(NO I DON'T work for Marriot nor do I know your manager OP, so please do not toss that pathetic strawman out for rebuttal).

Does anyone really believe that it would take a responsible parent THREE months to figure out that there is a club in this hotel that plays loud music and has nearly naked women walking around and maybe this is not the best place to LIVE with my daughter???? (Especially when my budget is $120k per year)???

Does anyone really believe that a manager would risk his job (and his own freedom since filing false charges could lead to the manager's arrest) just to kick someone out? This is just silly.

Worse still the original poster was NOT arrested (so the police did not believe that the drugs or whatever it was) were planted, yet THEY TOOK HIS DAUGHTER ANYWAY! Clearly the police did not have an axe to grind with him and yet they felt that he was an unfit parent. It really tells ANY reader all they need to know about priorites....since no one reading this could possibly believe that police just go to hotels and start snatching children.... It simply makes no sense as it is told- none of it does!

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out what happened.

The manager turned him in for using drugs and/or being drunk and this is the 'payback'.  SAD!

And don't even get me started about the insulting 'Its not me' reply from the ^second^ poster with the same (now emailed) pictures.

Yes the pictures are alike. My cell phone camera was not working and one of the other people took pictures and emailed them to a few of us who were witness to this.

The only coincidence is that there were about 5 or 6 people who all saw this condition at the same time at which time we began to converse and discuss this and other issues that disturbed us regarding the hotel.

Interestingly enough, most of us shared many of the same experiences and found the same issues annoying. Kismet? Perhaps.

I suppose you are never annoyed by poor service, bothersome noise or the like. In this case I must say you are the exception....not the rule.

However, I doubt this highly. Look at how annoyed you are getting by the written word! Think about it. You claim you have no stake in and are not employed by Marriott. Yet 2 postings on this site are occupying your mind and you feel that you have to voice your thoughts.

Now, take that sensation, put it in a public place where you are spending your good money, add crowds of people, turn the volume up, try to have an enjoyable dinner and then, tell me that you wouldn't find it annoying.

You're right.

Two dif authors.

But the exact same picture appears in both reports?(the one taken from the left side of the trash can by the elevator)

You both have the same complaints about the same hotel, posted on the same day with the same picture.

hmmmmmmm

just asking

I don't work for nor have I ever worked for Marriott.  I just had to respond to the asinine report of an over-entitled  crybaby.

Again if you don't like it, don't stay there

To "R" in Canada, This report is a separate report from the one I "Kathy C" posted.  Coincidentally on the same day that this posted my complaint was posted. I am the patron who entertains clients frequently at this particular Marriott and am not the author of this posting.

It is quite possible that this complainant was posted by one of the half dozen people who were waiting for the elevator at the time I was. There was an open conversation regarding the trash and other issues that interestingly enough were noted in both of our complaints.

You seem to have taken both my comments and this persons comments to heart, leading me to believe that you have a vested interest in this particular Marriott property. I find that particularly interesting since you are in Canada. A Marriott employee perhaps???? Hmmmm.

I suggest before adding comments you should do your due diligence. Had you looked at both postings you might have noticed that they were posted by 2 separate individuals.

In this case, my friend.... 1+1 does indeed add up to 2. I took my calculator out and double checked.

I would like to point out that in over 90 days straight living at this hotel I spent in the close proximity of $40,000. Also been patronizing this place for meals pretty much weekly for 25+ years on weekends. I have no idea nor care how much a hotel profits from promotional drinking /dancing weekend parties however I do know that 40 grand is a major chunk of change to live in a rental unit(s) for three months It should be noted that as a long time Marriott customer I do not have to "go elsewhere if I am unhappy". Marriott advertises and guarantees a standard of service that I expect to receive and I have the right to ask for same. This is my home town Marriott and the only one near where I reside. Marriott gives me that guaranteed service at dozens of other properties that I have patronized. Marriott Corporate uses these promises of service guarantee to ensure loyalty from their customer base. A Marriott franchisee signs an agreement of standards that must be met and kept in order to fly the Marriott flag. Employees at a Marriott property whether franchised or parent company operated are trained to perform at an established standard level. If they are not properly trained and/or monitored it is generally due to one reason in my opinion formed over 25 years of travelling. An ineffective General Manager.

Two reports on the same hotel in one day.  First report says you are entertaining business clients, second report says you're staying there for 90 days.

hmmmmmmm... 1+1 doesn't equal 2. something's fishy....not sure what, but it don't smell right.

Most of your complaints are trivial.  Staff walking through the restaurant?  gimme a break. they got a job to do.  Trash cans overflowing? Looks like  a night of use. Pretty sure they get emptied the next day.  The hotel bar throws a party that's not to your liking? One piece of advice- DON"T STAY THERE!  Pretty sure they make a far better profit on their party night at the bar than from a single whinny, arrogant, entitled guest.

Just a few thoughts
