I had a checking and savings account with Washington Mutual, they closed my account one day out of the blue without sending a letter or at least giving a phone call. I wrote three checks at department stores the Saturday before they closed my account (it was closed on a Monday) and had 2 automatic debit credit card payments coming through for that Monday as well. My checks and credit card debits were not honored, EVEN THOUGH I had plenty of money in the account to honor all the items going in. You want to know how I found out my account was closed?

I went to put gas one day and my Check card was declined, I called Washington Mutual and they told me the account had been closed due to "suspicious activity", till this day I still have no idea what suspicious activity was going on because I never received an explanation.

According to them, they hold the right to close my account whenever they please, and I had no say in it. A week later after getting bombarded with Check Company letters trying to get their money for the Department stores they represent, I called Washington Mutual to get a letter from them so I could send it to the Check Companies so I wouldn't have to pay the fees and so I could send it to the Credit Card companies so I wouldn't get reported to the Credit Bureau for "late payment", they told me they would get back to me in two days so they could review my case and actually send me the letter. It's been more than weeks and I STILL have not heard from them.
