I was finally able to get a judgement in court for the medical and dental bills that I had to pay because my ex-husband was in contempt of court and refused to pay them as ordered. In order to do this, I had to scrape together enough money to pay a lawyer an enormous amount of money (at least for me). When the judge ordered my ex-husband to pay posthaste, he refused and was jailed. When he bonded out the same day, the Wayne County jail sent the money that was owed me, $1500, to the Friend of the Court, which they did send to me, but in the form of child support, paying off my ex-husband's child-support arrearage and now showing me overpaid. I have written to Friend of the Court, my state representative, the judge in charge of the Freind of the Court, etc., etc., etc., trying to make them understand that this money paid for medical and dental bills was a completely separate issue and should not have been applied to the child care arreage, it should have been awarded to me in addition to teh child care amounts that I received. In short, my exhusband has been permitted to have the same payment used to pay off both his obligation for medical and dental expenses and his child care arreage. Because of the so-called "overpayment" that subsequently showed on my Friend of the Court amount, Friend of the Court reduced a subsequent child care payment to me because of this "overpayment." HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLP these people are impossible. Pamela s. 48101, Michigan

When you go to court and get an order stating that the other party should pay "X" amount for medical bills. That amount gets added to you chid support arrearages. So when the bond money hit the account, the balance on the account should have included both any outstanding child support owed, as well as the amount of the medical bills. What you need to find out, if the amount for the medical bills was added to the arrearage. If not then you should probably send a copy of the court order stating the medical bill amount and ask that it be entered into the system. One added it should help out with that overpayment. If the amount was added to your accout, you should ask when the amount was added and the amount. Ask for the balance before the amount was added, that way you can kinda of do the math yourself and see if the arrearage is correct.
