I believe the previous comment to be true. I had sold an older RV and just sent the proceeds to Wells Fargo without any further instructions.. Shame on me. I really should have paid down the principal. However, I have only the equivalent of three payments left on this loan, thank goodness, and will pay it off completely by the end of September. An update on my original post: I sent my first TEN CENT check to Wells Fargo on 25 July.. I called the wells Fargo 1-800 number, and after a few minutes, found that my TEN CENT check had been posted! Fantastic! I also checked with by local bank manager and postmaster. I found out a few things. ONE: Sending the TEN CENTS checks is NOT illegal in any way. TWO: Wells Fargo MUST post the checks to my account, and THREE: Sending a penny in the mail is NOT illegal. I will now add a penny to further TEN CENT checks to Wells Fargo. I ask for your help in my endeavor. Please copy and paste my original complaint into your e-mail and send it to friends and family. Have them send it to their friends and family and so on. Let's really get this grass roots effort to get Wells Fargo to listen and care on it's way to doing what we ask. Thank you.

Re your: ''On May 5th I made a payment to my account in the amount of $3,500. Wells Fargo then also took a payment from my checking account in the amount of $668. On 13 June I received my billing statement which said, 'Paid ahead'No payment due'. '' This $3500 would have done you a LOT more good if it were applied to reduce your balance instead of merely being treated by W-F as advance payments and resulting in the statement 'Paid ahead'No payment due'. You would have saved yourself some interest & also shortened the time you must deal with W-F.

Steven, your rebuttal is absurd on so many levels that you may have earned the distinction of overtaking Charles in AL as the champion of pathetic. By your own admission, you have paid an average of $250/month in overdraft fees for the past 18 months. That means you average at least one overdraft fee per week. That reality alone would be enough to cement your guilt. However, you proceed to say, and I quote: 'I'm in the business of remodeling homes so I have no way of calculating my budget' So, you have NO way of calculating your budget? How about this concept...I think you'll enjoy it: STOP SPENDING MONEY BEFORE IT'S AVAILABLE IN YOUR ACCOUNT...There you have it, problem solved. Your next quote is equally hilarious and absurd: 'The first thing you can do is call the OCC (office for Comptroller of Currencey at 1-800-613-6743, go through the prompts and press 0 alot, you will get someone after about 3 minutes. Give them your side of the story, they will give you a case number and then file a formal written complaint online. This is only a formality, however if enough people read this and call, voice WILL be heard.' Hmm...This is only a formality... NEWSFLASH HERO: These government entities are the decision makers setting the rules, not the banks. That's kind of like complaining to your mother that SHE grounded you for too long. Your final absurd quote is insulting to those who fight for a truly worthy cause - and for that, you should be ashamed of yourself. You wrote: 'Please contact Ripoff Report and get my email address, I need as many people in this fight as possible. Mothers Against Drunk Driving started with ONE person. look how powerfull they are now.' MADD is an organization that fights to save lives. YOU, on the other hand, are an irresponsible, whiny dolt who lives to blame others for his poor choices. Don't even pretend to be on the same level as those mothers who fight to save the lives of REAL victims.

Ike, I empathise with your situation. I too have been there..I have paid nearly $4,500 dollars in overdraft fees over the past 18 months. Recently Well Fargo has tried to charge me $345.00 for $88.00 in overdrafts. I'm in the business of remodeling homes so I have no way of calculating my budget (supposed to be done on a thursday, customer adds in more work finally get paid on Saturday, check clears tuesday, overdraft happens on Monday. Fees are overwhelming) The first thing you can do is call the OCC (office for Comptroller of Currencey at 1-800-613-6743, go through the prompts and press 0 alot, you will get someone after about 3 minutes. Give them your side of the story, they will give you a case number and then file a formal written complaint online. This is only a formality, however if enough people read this and call, voice WILL be heard. I live in Nevada and currently I am in the process of organizing a coalition to put an initiative on the ballot to force the state of Nevada to regulate overdraft fees to a reasonable standard, starting with a percentage rate and cap on overdraft fees. The next issue on this ballot measure will make it illegal for the state legislature to make any attempt to stop this initiative/referendum and face jail time if they do so. This is important such as the case in Arizona where the voters turned down an increase in the sales tax to pay for a football stadium for the Arizona Cardinals, the legiislature overturned the voters and the following year a ballot inititive passed that would put legislators in jail for going against the will of the people. (NOW THAT IS AMERICA) Please contact Ripoff Report and get my email address, I need as many people in this fight as possible. Mothers Against Drunk Driving started with ONE person. look how powerfull they are now. Thanks Steven
