West Hills Honda Rip-off! Sold unsafe mini-van to family! Bremerton Washington
In 2000 my husband and I and our two young daughters saw a 1994 Mazda MPV on the lot. After test driving it we desided to buy it. We were told it had gone through a extensive check up and were shown paperwork. We were told it needed a small part and it was scheduled to be put on the next day. We purchased the vehicle for just under $10,000. Within a few weeks it began running rough.
We took it in to our local Mazda mechanic. Really bad news~ we needed a new engine!(and the small part they needed to have put on at West Hills? Not on the vehicle) So, I went to the dealership. The salesman was there, he said the vehicle we bought was supposed to be sold wholesale for parts~ But, because we "liked it so much" they decided to sell it to us. I spoke to the manager, Jerry Powers, and he said the same thing, adding "Too bad". The owner, Chuck Hazelwood, was contacted by me and he said, "I don't run the place, I just own it" and hung up on me.
I contacted a lawyer and was told his fee would be just as much as repairs. I had bought an extended warrenty~ but the small print says it wouldn't cover this kind of repairs. So, we took out a loan and got a new engine and in the next 2 years replaced the radiator, axels, airconditioning, and almost everything else! Now, it is sitting in our driveway- the transmition went out two months ago.
We JUST finished paying off the loan to buy it and the others to fix the problems/new engine. Total cost of car and repairs? $20,000. And it still doesn't run! Please, don't buy from West Hills Honda or any other Hazelwood owned company~ they don't stand by their cars!

Chuck Hazelwood is actually right, he doesn't run them, he only owns them. The dealerships are independent from one another. A family member of mine works at the Toyota dealership right next to Honda, and they are actually in competition with them. All the service I, and everyone I know, have gotten at the Toyota dealership has been great. West Hills Honda and all the other Hazelwood autogroup aren't sharing checks.
