Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I had an estimate done for hail damage on my vehicle (Kia Sportage) approximately two months ago. The estimate was for $760.00. My insurance adjuster assessed the damage at $1404.00.

My husband and I took the vehicle to Westway Ford to have the work completed. They requested a copy of the insurance adjuster's information. fter receiving that information, they called and told my husband that it would cost between $1600 and $1800 dollars to fix my car.

My husband did call the Service Manager and tried to talk to him and he just indicated that it was "just and estimate". My husband told him that it doubled after they received a copy of the insurance papers. He indicated that they could only estimate and that the amount changed when the began to look at doing the work. My husband told him that Westway Ford should have to lose the difference since they didn't estimate better.

This is a ploy to defraud our insurance company. We understand that an estimate is usually not exact. However, the cost to fix my car doubled. There was no additional hail damage done after the original estimate. If they have been in the business for years they should be able to estimate damage within $50 to $200 dollars. If the person that did this estimate can not estimate better than that, they need to consider getting a new person to work for them.

We did not let them fix my car. If they can not estimate better than that, I certainly don't want them to fix my car. They way I do business is if I didn't give a more accurate estimate then I would have stood by estimate and fixed it for that amount or close to it and lose the rest. I guess Westway is out for Westway and not consumers.

In conclusion, it is my opinion that Westway Ford works to defraud insurance companies. Consumer insurance premiums are high enough and if we continue to allow auto body repair shops or dealerships to do this kind of business, our insurance premiums will continue to sky rocket.

I plan to send a letter to the Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Ford Motor Company which is William Clay Ford, Jr. and to Governor Rick Perry.

I am in the insurance industry. I am not sure of how Westway went about repairign your vehicle, but in this recent hail storm alot of vehicles were written as paintless dent repair only to get them into the shop have them looked at under special lighting and determined that PDR paintless dent repair was not appropriate and therefore a conventional repair approach was needed which is more costly. An estimate is just that...and estimate. And from what I am reading, it sounds to me that you were trying to make money off of your insurance by having it done cheaper than their appraisal, which in some circles is also fraudulent and also causes premiums to go up. Let's do some research before we start casting stones...they may just come back and hit you in the head.
