Do not believe anything these people tell you on the phone. They are very good at what they do, and will figure out a way to get the information they need, i.e. your credit card number.

They come on with a story about how your great credit rating places you in an almost certain posture to win a fully loaded BMW 325I, or $25,000 in cash. They will tell you that they have been doing this for a long time, and rarely seen individuals ranked so high not winning.

The next phase of the call deals with $650 worth of free gifts including a 35mm camera and 100 rolls of film, just for participating. After you agree to participate they tell you that someone else will call you to confirm.

The second call is where you learn about subscribing to one, and they emphasize, only one magazine at a rate of $4.00/ wk. for 60 months. My reluctance to commit to 60 months prompted an offer of 36 months. Of course they don't invoice monthly. They condense the 36 months into 10 monthly payments, or roughly $60/month. However, these payments don't begin until August.

I gave them a debit card number against my instincts and better judgement. The sales lady assured me that all we discussed would be covered in a mailing that I should receive within 10 days. She gave me her direct line so I could call if I had questions, or concerns.

I knew I'd been had the minute I hung up the phone. I called the number she gave me and got a private residence. I called my bank in an effort to invaliadate any transactions that might post. Not suprisingly the first payment had already posted as pending. There is nothing the bank can do to stop this payment. My only recourse was to deactivate my debit card and apply for a new card. Fortunately my bank has Saturday hous, and I was able to take care of this.

At least WCP will get no more than the $60 already posted. Hopefully I will get through to somebody at WCP that will refund the initial payment.

These people are ruthless and obviously liars. A 10 minute phone call and one stupid mistake required a days worth of activity to

resolve.

Do not let them control the conversation. Ask very specific questions and demand equally specific answers. If they deflect your questions hang up the phone. Do not give them an opportunity to double talk you into anything.
