I ordered a package from Wirefly in which the phone came free with a two year service contract with Cingular. I had my old number from Sprint transferred over. When I got the phone, I could make calls, but no one could call me. Highly bizarre, I called Cingular about it. They said the old number had not transferred.

I called Sprint, and I paid extra to keep the line open long enough to have it transferred over. Sprint said they had transferred it. I had to do something, because I was getting no where. Cingular was not going to fix the problem. The only thing I could do was get a new number. Cingular said that it should be fine as long as I keep the same service agreement.

This was back in October 2006. Suddenly this year I find out that it was NOT okay. I started getting EMAILS from InPhonic saying that I cancelled my contract with Cingular and I needed to pay $250 for the phone. The phone was not even worth that much! I tried calling them and explaining my situation. They said they would look into it.

When I had not received a call or email after that, I thought it was resolved. Then I received a COLLECTIONS LETTER WITHOUT NOTICE. I called the collections number and explained my situation, and they would not listen to me. I asked to speak to a supervisor, and he would not let me speak to one. I was finally passed off to someone else who only told me to ignore it. Ignore a collections letter?! Sure pal, that will really help. They brought down the price to $150 which I ended up paying the second time I called, after realizing they were not going to look into my situation at all.

I was ripped off.

I feel I should not have had to pay for the phone when the number did not properly transfer over, forcing me to get a new number. I understand that accounts go by the phone number, but I still had the same service agreement with Cingular despite it being a different number. Most of all, I was treated without respect and was not listened to, I was told that they would look into it, and then I got a collections letter without hearing back from them first.
