Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

My daughter needed to replace her Iphone 4 which was stolen.  So we went to the local Verizon dealer, first time visit.  I purchased the phone for $99.  Nolan (store mgr), then asked me if I would like to purchase insurance on the phone.  I of course said yes after he explained to me that Protect Cell (which is only available thru them as an independent dealer) would replace the phone upon theft or damage.

The plan was $199 for 2yrs. - sounded good, so we purchased it - July 2012.   It is Sept 2013, my daughters screen cracked on her phone.  So we went up to the Verizon Wireless Shop to get her $99 phone replaced.  Only 1 year into the Protect Cell contract that expires July 2014, we are told by another store associate (which Nolan Store Manager was also there) that WE are to file a claim that costs $160 thru Protect Cell to replace a phone that was only $99 to begin with!!!!!

I am angry that this store is in our community ripping people off by not telling them the whole truth about insurance that does absolutely nothing for their customers but scamming more money out of them & lining their pockets with our hard earned money!!

They are disrespectful, unsympathetic, and a dark cloud in our beautiful community.  I hope they realize that how they run their business is dishonest & I will definately spread the word of my first & thankfully last horrible experience there!!!!

Everyone talks about the price they paid on the day they signed up/upgraded.  Heres what they don't understand.  When you sign a 2 year contract you get a subsidized price on a phone.  If you do not purchase insurance, if anything happens to your phone you have two choices: pay full price for a phone (if you were to go into a carriers store to buy an iphone 5 you'd be looking at $550 at least).  So when you have insurance they'll replace your phone with a deductable based on the value of the phone.  Most Iphones are $150-200 depending on the carrier.

So which is better paying $160 for a replacement or paying $500?  Its completely up to you but the argument "I bought the phone for $100" is ridiculous.
