Complaint Review: World Law Group - Austin Texas

In September of 2012 after enduring two pay cuts from my employer, I knew I could no longer afford the lifestyle I once enjoyed. But I did not want to walk away from my debts, so when I contacted World Law, I thought I had found a resolution, debt settlement. Little did I know I would lose thousands of dollars in the deal.

They contracted with me a deal to settle with all of my creditors and pay them a small fee, (LOL), for 54 months. They told me that I couldn't file Chapter 7 until I had dealt with a firm like theirs. What they didn't say was the following:

They do not contact any creditors before your debt is turned over to collections.

If they tell you that they do, ask them for copies of these letters, after all it is your money! Don't worry, they won't have any to show you.

Even once your debts are turned over to collections, World Law Group still does not contact anyone. They just put that money away and feast on it until they are paid in full. Then they might do something. These are not my words, these are the words of one of the reps of the company itself.

In November of 2012 I received yet another pay cut. I notified WLG who didnot respond. By March I was out of money and I contacted them again and asked them to please not withdraw monies from my account until further notice. I kept in touch with them continuing to request that they not withdraw money from my account but along comes June and they took $587 out of my account.

I contacted my bank and WLG, finally getting to speak to someone that said to me, "you are clearly not a candidate for a debt settlement program, you should be filing Chapter 7!"

They refused to refund my money even though:

A: it has does nothing but sit in their bank account for almost a year,

B: WLG has done absolutely nothing for me, no statement of accounts, etc. but they feel they are entitled to all of my money because after all, they have been working on my case. Truly they have not and truly I asked them to tell me what they had done and they could not. Watch out for Ray Hughner who seems to think we are definitely not entitled to our money back. Oh but he will settle! For pennies!!!!!!!! But get this, Ray Hughner himself said that noone should have been able to put me into a 54 month program!!!

So I've had to file Chapter 7 and the courts will be going after World Law Group to get my money back and put towards my creditors accounts where it belongs!!!!

Consider the following response from Leghaci Williams when I contacted her to tell her I did not have enough money to pay them. Quote:

"Drafting any amount is better than not drafting at all because you are not saving any money if you don’t and it is making your length in this program longer. You will also not have all the funds to do negotiations which are why you are in the program. Let me know if there is an amount you can draft for 6/30. Thank you"

Oh my, I was in a 54 month program!

And I asked the following: exact cut and paste from my email,

Was wondering when someone should be calling to offer the counseling part.

Also, who should I contact regarding regaining my monthly fees to WLP?

I would think that this would be refundable minus any initial fees?

Here is there response: Again, exact words,

"Hello Patricia,

I received the email below but do not understand what you are asking or looking for at this time.

Neva"

In short, I believe that the federal government should be looking at the allegations against this company and I plan to do everything I can to get the attention it deserves!
