I applied for a pesonal loan in early January 2007 through a couple of search engines and was contacted several weeks later by a representative from Worthington Capital.

I was informed that I had been approved but I needed a security deposit of 9% due to my credit history. I then requested a lower amount, but the deposit they were requesting didn't change that much so I request to have the original amount requested.

Needless to say the deposit was made and the wire transfer to my account never happened. The representative who was assisting me has disappeared. I requested my deposit back after speaking with a "lead representative" who offered an explanation as to why my loan never was processed.

I was told this process to get my refund back was originally going to take 45 days to 3 months. Then I was told 15-30 business days from 2/15/07. So my refund is supposed to be issued this upcoming week.

Pay in advance scam

I'm sorry to inform both of you that you've been had. This is a scam, plain and simple. It is illegal to ask for Cash in advance of a loan, no real financial company would do it. Period. Neither of you are getting any refund. You went online looking for a loan and through a search engine found a website for a loan company that probably looked real. In fact, they may be using a real companies name, but I assure you, they are fake. They rely on people with poor credit and poor financial situations and knowledge to assuem because they have a nice website that they are legit. They aren't. Western Union, MoneyGram and all other wire services explicitly warn against these types of scams on their websites and inform consumers there is no security on their transfers and not to wire money to peopel you don't know.
