I went to a Wyndham Time Share presentation.

I told the salesperson that I needed easy access to very nice hotels for driving across the country and for last minute vacations.

The salesperson told me about free upgrades, and getting discounts on my points if I booked for less than 45 days out.

I was deceived:  I cannot use the points for hotels unless I book the hotel 45 days in advance.

And a $250 a night room will cost me over 100,000 points for only one night!

100,000 points is about two years worth of points.

64,000 points cost about $15,000 up front and over $500 a year for maintenence.

When I phoned their travel department:  to my utter horror I found out that I will never be able to use my points to stay at hotels for last minute vacations and that a whole years worth of points will not even get me a hotel room for one night!

I am a senior citizen and I think this is elder abuse.

" I am a senior citizen and I think this is elder abuse.  "

Are you saying that for some specific reason, or is it because you think older people should automatically be immune from making poor decisions.    The only reason I ask is that there are probably more younger and middle aged people who made equally poor decisions, and wonder why you should get a pass.     Actually, someone who is your age should have had much more life experience that would indicate that no one ever gets what they're promised at a timeshare presentation.
