"X Technology" -- computer maker from Ohio -- is BAD NEWS
We bought a computer from "X Technology" (www.xtechnology.com) 18 months ago. Within six months it mysteriously died. As per the warranty, we had to ship the entire tower back to them at our expense. After a month (!) of waiting, phoning them for status reports, etc., we were finally told that -- after replacing the motherboard, processor, etc. -- the problem was the hard drive. They made no attempts to recover our data on the old hard drive, so that was all lost. SEVEN WEEKS after shipping it off to them, we finally got the "fixed" computer back.
A few weeks ago, the computer died again. We hired a local computer tech to come by and check it out. He immediately found the problem: the capacitors on the motherboard were shot, probably taking the processor with it. X Technologies said we would have to ship it back to them for repair. A week after we shipped it (via Priority Mail), we finally heard that they received it. But instead of them fixing it, they have decided to ship it back to the manufacturer to be replaced. Furthermore, instead of shipping it directly from the manufacturer to us, it will have to be sent back to X Technology, who will then ship it back to us. We are probably looking at another month before we will get it back.
We rely upon our computers for our income. Our dealings with X Technology have been nothing but trouble. The technical support department is entirely disinterested in helping, they seem incompetent, and they certainly are slow. The products they sell are faulty, at least in our case. The Better Business Bureau says that they have had 22 complaints in the past year, but that only reflects "closed complaints", meaning those that have been resolved in some way. I have no idea how many "open" complaints they may have, but -- if anything more goes wrong, they will be getting one more from us.
If anyone is considering doing business with X Technology of Warrensville Heights, Ohio, I strongly suggest you look elsewhere.
