My 30 day return restriction is not expired at this writing. I purchased a small nose ring for 29.99. Upon the advice of sales person, the jewelry was acceptable for a nose piercing. I went immediately to the piercer....jewelry not surgical steel quality for piercing, so I could not get a piercing. Within 24 hours attempted to return never opened merchandise...I forgot the receipt...Employee said, as long as you have the receipt you can return the merchandise within 30 days.

I returned within 2 weeks with the receipt and unopened merchandise. "...no credit for the item since it was considered body jewelry"....NO SIGNS VISIBLE FOR RETURN POLICY... read the small print on the back of receipt. The package had never been opened and no attempt was made to use the merchandise. STILL....no credit for return. However, I was told that ankle bracelets, necklaces, earrings, and rings are not "body jewelry".....SOOOOOOOOOOOO, anyone could purchase and wear the jewelry mentioned (except for piercing earrings and nose rings, never opened or worn) for less than 30 days and then return it to the store for a full credit. Where's the LOGIC?

Calling the ZALES CORPORATE Office was no help. After reading the other complaints on this site about ZALES and its other registered companies, I'm surprised they are still in business.

Having discovered that ZALES controls most of the jewelry outlets in all the MALLS across the United States, I now understand their cavalier attitude towards the little people. This issue is not about the 29.99; it's about "THE GOLIATHS versus THE DAVIDS." There is no customer service anymore....

ZALES mission statement...HONESTY, INTEGRITY, and TRUST... lost in translation. BOYCOTT is a better translation.

At Piercing Pagoda we do not sell items which are to be used for Nose piercings. Because it not only holds us as a store, and to a further extent the company as a whole, liable for items like that as such I think the employee was probably misinformed or something like that. as such you should probably call the store in question and speak with a manager on duty ( usually about 2 of us one in the morning one at night). again because it is not my store i cannot tell you what kind of service you have gotten at that one ( which I'll look into seeing as i know the district manager up there), so why put up with a misinformed employee? It was probably their first day on their own ( which if it wasn't please respond and i'll contact the DM up there and have a few words). I know that at my store there have been times when an employee who we were having trouble with would say something like " all of our body jewelry is returnable" or something like that because he was unhappy about having been passed over for a promotion because of lack of sales and things. but all i can do is apologize because i don't know how long that employee was at that store so please respond and check with the manager and see how long that employee was there. In response to the rebuttal: Thank you for your kind response. However, please note that I was with the employee for nearly an hour reviewing all the possibilities of what could go wrong....since this was my first piercing. I paid very careful attention to everything that was explained to me. Even upon returning the item the next day, I was very specific in noting that the employee stated "You have thirty days to return the item, as long as you have your receipt." Kindly, you mentioned that the sales person made a mistake....therefore, why must I or anyone else suffer at the hands of an uninformed employee? Also, please note that the package with the jewelry was still sealed....when I say it was never opened, it was never opened. The seal was never tampered with....the piercing studio only saw the bag with the item and said,"you cannot use the items sold at the PAGODA because the items are not piercing quality...which insures sterile conditions on the metal." My issue is still on the logic of being able to return an item already worn on an ankle or on the neck or even on the fingers.....If I purchased second-hand jewelry...I'd want to make sure it was sterile.....too. The argument fails to address the issue ... lack of consideration and service to a valued customer.

I am an assistant manager with Piercing Pagoda within our training ( for all employees) we are required to tell the customer that body jewelry is non returnable. Here is why we do not accept returns on body jewelry. 1.) We don't know if you tried it on or whatever ( honestly would you want someones used nose ring in your nose?) 2.) because of the nature of the body jewelry we would have to invest a minimum of $50 per returned item to cleanse the stainless steel and then irradiate it and repackage it. 3.) because body jewelry is used in places that normal earrings cannot be used ( for example nipples) those are areas that are prone to infection and we do not wish to sell a dirty product 4.) as you call it ( an unopened package) is nothing more than a plastic card with a piece of felt on it which yes we keep our cases clean but no we cannot be held liable when it is out of our hands. In summation the employee was probably at fault for not telling you it was nonreturnable But you may also have not been paying attention to the employee that sold it to you! which means that you could have been at fault as well. but look at the investment per peice of body jewelry that would have to be returned cleansed melted down and shipped ( about $200 per piece) vs the 15 you spent so in all honesty all i can tell you is that you were at fault
